Starting at 2:10 he does somethin' that makes me want to throw the entire contents of my underwear drawer at him. What the heck is that? Tenor, countertenor, contralto, uber falsetto, mega-octave or just plain heavenly? Could you please explain?
it sounded to me like he finally hit the break to falsetto because the voice broke a bit...and it lowered...it never ceases to amaze me how he goes all the way up and then seems to have two more octaves above that...a real freak instrument...ROFLMAO entire contents of drawer U ARE SERIOUSLY SO FREAKING FUNNY!!!

Just listend to it , he does change fluidly from chest voice to head voice alot , if you listen to the main verse and the chorus part you can clearly tell he's going into falsetto to reach the higher notes , just not crazy falsetto , somewhere mid range , where you still retain the characteristics of your chest voice to some extent.
Still an amazing voice , he should really join a supergroup of some sort.

Please, I'm a trained singer. Nuance is the ability to control your voice and use it like the instrument it can be. As far as singing high notes, it takes much more control to sing a high note SOFTLY in your normal voice than to belt it out at full volume and not everyone can pull off singing falsetto. Both are gifted singers, but with very different venues. Adam will do well on tour since half of his talent is in presentation, while Kris will sell more CDs as his VOICE is engaging.

I did feel that the song was written more for Adam.- don't know why they would want to give one contestant the advantage over the other. The second song that they chose for Kris was weak as well, although you have to admit that he KILLED on the first one. I'd say that I voted more on the full season than last night's performance. As I said, they are both talented but in very different venues. I'm sorry your opera career didn't work out for you. Perhaps a different venue for you?

You miss my point, Kris CAN sing very well. His voice has more nuance, while Adam is full on most of the time. I admit that Adam's rendition of Mad World was the best I've ever heard. I am a huge fan of them both, but I think Kris's talent is more well rounded. I'm sure that they will both have major careers at this point. They both have a very creative spin that they put on their music. I still voted for Kris.

The emphasis should be on the first sylable, not the second. Also, while Adam's vocal range is impressive, Kris is the one who will sell the most CDs. He writes his own music and plays two instruments. He can engage you with his voice alone, while Adam seems to rely on volume and stage presence. My vote goes to Kris Allen!

Please, I'm a trained singer. Nuance is the ability to control your voice and use it like the instrument it can be. As far as singing high notes, it takes much more control to sing a high note SOFTLY in your normal voice than to belt it out at full volume and not everyone can pull off singing falsetto. Both are gifted singers, but with very different venues. Adam will do well on tour since half of his talent is in presentation, while Kris will sell more CDs as his VOICE is engaging.

I did feel that the song was written more for Adam.- don't know why they would want to give one contestant the advantage over the other. The second song that they chose for Kris was weak as well, although you have to admit that he KILLED on the first one. I'd say that I voted more on the full season than last night's performance. As I said, they are both talented but in very different venues. I'm sorry your opera career didn't work out for you. Perhaps a different venue for you?

You miss my point, Kris CAN sing very well. His voice has more nuance, while Adam is full on most of the time. I admit that Adam's rendition of Mad World was the best I've ever heard. I am a huge fan of them both, but I think Kris's talent is more well rounded. I'm sure that they will both have major careers at this point. They both have a very creative spin that they put on their music. I still voted for Kris.

Please do the world a favor, and lessen the amount of your profanity. It clouds what you want to say. And learn the proper pronunciation of the word preferably. The emphasis should be on the first sylable, not the second. Also, while Adam's vocal range is impressive, Kris is the one who will sell the most CDs. He writes his own music and plays two instruments. He can engage you with his voice alone, while Adam seems to rely on volume and stage presence. My vote goes to Kris Allen!

Wow Stephen that was one of my fav vids you've ever done. I was asking my friend Sam about the falsetto thing the other day. We were watching Adam vids and I kept saying, "Holy Crap, I think he's doing that in full voice. Seriously? He's 14, not a kitten by any means- I've had him since he was 3 months old, got him from the shelter. He looked at me funny with his head set sideways with that moustache, that was it.

Agree...the male soprano from England (I think his name is Greg Pritchard) sounds weird...and just because he's capable of hitting those notes doesn't mean he should...or that it's any good. It's like a dog meowing, as Simon said.
Adam belts out those notes and hits the sweet spot EVERY TIME. AWESOME!

You are so right about the high notes in full voice......I told you before that my Dad was an Opera singer.......and when Adam arrived on the scene.....it made me miss him ......he has been gone for 15 years...but I know how much he would have admired this young man...hitting those exceptionally difficult notes.....with PERFECT pitch.......this ability does not come often...and...indeed..without hard work to train the God given talent he began with. ( And he is a SEX God)

Well said...I give you a standing ovation for this one!!!!! I have posted some comments where people accused Adam of screaming and I have noted that they must think opera singers are screaming...very maddening that they are actually voting for a good singer when they don't seem to know one when they hear him.
