Come on people I hope you do realize that brief exposure, even direct contact, with Mercury isn't going to give you cancer or cause any sort of medical issue. Some ppl overestimate the power of mercury. I used to play all day long with bare hands with about 50 ml of this stuff when i was a child. Ofc i had no fkin clue back then was this stuff was or that it is toxic, it was just pure fun to me. Im still here with no problems whatsoever after 15 years.

You shouldn't breathe around it for long, as far as the prolonged exposure goes, but otherwise he doesn't need any sort of protection as long as he's using the right type of mercury. That is, hoping he didn't just crack open an old thermometer or ten. ;)

@DeborahMelano It was $1000. Casio stopped making this model which was their top of the line unit. There seems to always be a few listed on ebay and I would not hesitate to buy a used one. I've probably have more use on my camera than any other user and it has performed very well.

@red666111 no, you see i only touched it lightly not breaking the surface tension. also, even if it would have sticked on my skin and i would have broken the surface tension, i would have washed my hands with soap with care (wich i also did for security reasons). i only lightly tapped it so no worries:D
