You guys who are saying this is a waste of time have no idea what is going on. The amazing thing about vortex tubes like this is that you can have one inlet flow coming in like he has at the top of the vortex tube (at a certain temp & pressure). And two exit flows coming out the sides, one shooting out cold air, and one shooting out hot air. You dont have to do any work or add any heat to the system to achieve this. And this all happens given that first initial inlet flow. Pretty cool stuff.
@1slipping1 Uh, theres water cooling systems for PCs? Also, a bit more on the expensive side (as if a water cooled system isnt) theres the ability to totally submerge your system in cooling liquid. This would be a huge waste imo, and loud.
I used something similar to this when I worked at a tune up shop. To adjust carburator choke heaters. One side cooled it so I could ajust choke angle and cold start idle.
if i had to guess, the hot air would be around 24 degrees. I've only read, but it seems to be fairly equal with the temperature distribution. If the cold side drops 10 degrees from ambiance, the hot air side would raise 10 degrees. TANSTAAFL i would think the law of newton would apply, for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. (was that newton who said that?)
why are the top comments about bickering about physics or time spent?
or grammar or spelling for that matter.
we're getting a demonstration for free. shut your fuckin faces and appreciate what is available.
thank you, gyroscopes man.

Nice demonstration, did you say that the inlet air pressure 8200 psi?

You shouldn't use a reflective surface for an IR thermometer. It'll pick up on reflected IR emissions from the environment.

imagine that cooling my CPU haha. Hmm wonder if there a vortex tube cooler that would be amazing

What would be cool is if he made a wind generator that compressed air hooked it to this to cool his car as he drove down the road

Try spending it on something more useful, then.
Like learning how to spell "wasted".

Just assume that we are all too lazy to do the math and/or, we are to ignorantwhats the COP of your vortex tube?

Normally cooling machines.

@gyroscopes In motorsport, you may consider using vortex tubes to add extra downforce at high speeds.
