Just had this done to reshape my hip, remove an impingement on the outer side of my femeral head and repair and reshape the laberum. This looks shocking, but thankfully you'll be completely under. I was walking the day after ( on crutches but putting 50% of my weight on it) 2-3 days after I feel that I can put my full weight on it. No pain as such just a bit sore ( like you have done exercise). So if you are looking because you are about to have such a procedure - don't be too shocked.

I had it done six months ago. My "chip" was as big as a walnut, huge, second largest the hip surgeon ever removed. I was partial recovered in a week, now it hardly bothers me. Yours will be easier.
