  • Круууть

  • Amazing band! Would love to have seen them live. Great song :)

  • Saw them live in Germany in the 80´s... So powerful! I was lucky, to see the guys again in 2000 in Hamburg. It was great, but could not bring back the old spirit. When I look at this clip and listen to this great song, im back in 1985 :-) All those lucky guys, who could saw them live in the 80´s: thumbs up!!!!

  • Couldn't help but think of current conditions in London while watching this.

  • 45.000 views? Why a a 1000 million? anx Mark :-D

  • forget what I said about paper tiger. it sounded a bit similar but clearly a different song. I know one of their other songs had several different titles. I also find it strange that at their "Home is where the heart's at" website they ask members for lyric sheets to add to their collection. Maybe Mark just signs in and they have a web-master who doesn't have all the information but it states it's their official site.

  • Maybe this is an obvious to all of you but was this renamed from paper tiger or does the song paper tiger just have the same kind of intro or bridge?

  • Is this footage from Script of Bridge Deluxe?

  • @godlesswickedvanian No, this is from the Live in Camden Palace (1985) DVD

  • One of the best bands ever

  • Awesome. This band just shakes me up inside very powerfully. They should have been huge.

  • so fuckin fantastic

  • They were and still are BRILLIANT! This is how postpunk sounds!

  • 43 and cant believe i have never heard this lot before ;-) made me smile great stuff !

  • Hi Guys- I Love your music- i feel your music and your words speak to what

is happening in the world today.. I post your song on my facebook so that

all my friends can enjoy your music...

  • @enchantresss1 Hi this is not the official youtube page of the band. The official website is located at thechameleons dt c0m. This is just one fanpage among many others.....

  • This is AMAZING!

  • everything about this band is perfect. the chiming guitars, that relentless backbeat, those vicious lyrics. what more could you ask for?

  • @NewPaltzIndie

    Nothing....

  • -trivia: Lenny Von Dohlen /Mark Burgess look alike. Lenny was in the third Home Alone and Twin Peaks and Electric Dreams. I was gonna upload a side by side to that site in which people look alike. Aparently Jack Black looks like Paul Revere (forefather not the band frontman)

  • soooo intense

  • This song is extracted from the "Live at Camden Palace" Dvd.....

  • do you have the entire show for trade on dvd?

  • A cult band !

Most underrated and in the world.

  • where are the videos of intrigue in tangiers, return of the roughnecks, singing rule britannia, here today and thursdays child? can you upload them too? please

  • Yes you are right , U2 did have more commercial appeal but I dont think the Chameleons had the same commercial aspirations as U2 . I dont think they would have survived anyway if they had gone down the same road as U2 due to the turmoil within the band.. :-)

  • U2 Dont even come close to this band.

The Chameleons had a very special chemistry musically that made them unique.

  • Not even close but, they were eclipsed by U2's less cerebral, more commercial appeal....except for those with more discerning tastes :)

  • u2 made over

  • aah...i love this band!

  • great sound to this video, its almost like being there.

  • Mark Burgess....what a LEGEND....What a Band...

    so amazingly powerful!!

  • noticed that too! be seeing you, chameleons!

  • I didn't know No.6 played the bass....

  • did Mark borrow his bass from Patrick McGoohan?

  • I'm sorry I don't know....

  • @urckrecords

    .... very funny ...lol :)

  • @Fangfingers I knew it, Mark Burgess was the real Number 1 all along.

  • Joder...esta banda era sobrecogedora...y lo seguía siendo en directo. Para mí pocos grupos ha habido tan auténticos como ellos, Joy Division, los Cure del Faith y Pornography y Birthday Party.

  • Mark Burgess how very powerful intense

vocals on the song, you can really feel the raw emotion. My number 2 greatest band of all time. Number one is Joy Division.

  • The 2nd best Camden performance next to Splitting in Two i.m.o.

  • so eighties, so good!

  • gives me goosebumps!

  • Another awesome performance from 4 perfect musicians. Amazing talent, fabulous music. Thank You for sharing this!

  • Also Try: Translator Romeo Void Missing Persons Flock of Seagals Talk Talk Psychedelic Furs The Church Wire Wire Train Rain Parade Mighty Lemon Drops Simple Minds Obviously more, but those come to mind.
  • Great bands you listed. Also The Cure The Smiths Joy Division New Order Echo and the Bunnymen Hoodoo Gurus Comsat Angels Ride Slowdive English Beat The Clash
  • Your taste in music is golden. Can we add Catherine wheel!

    Praying for a SLOWDIVE REUNION!

  • Love the songs Crank and Black Metallic by Catherine Wheel. I'm sure there are more that are less mainstream that are better. Slowdive reunion would kick ass. Aren't a couple of them in Mojave 3?

  • Welcome aboard, Boudosaved....It's never too late to discover good music and great lyricists like Mark Burgess.....!

  • I found The Chameleons by accident last summer when I was looking up who sang "Falling" on the Real Genius film soundtrack. The band was The Comsat Angels. I looked up similar bands and up popped The Chameleons. I bought their 1st 2 albums at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles and have been listening to them EVERY DAY in my car ever since. Timeless and better than the shiyza played on mainstream radio. I'm upset it took me 25 years to discover them.

  • You bought 'Strange Times' yet? Glorious album...

  • Thanks for the tip. How does it compare to the first two albums?

  • Bigger sound, better production. You've listened to 'Tears' and 'Swamp Thing' on here haven't you?

  • It seems there's a lot of Underground New Wave Fans Commenting here, Could someone list up some Good Underground New Wave Bands other then The Chameleons, Echo and the bunnymen, Joy Division , new order and grauzone (wich i find terrific bands by the way), I'm Trying to Get in to the new wave scene because i missed it due to my age.

  • Try:

    Martin Dupont

    Deux

    Icicle Works

    Pink Industry

Humour Malade. I think you might like them

  • @tmutazz

All the bands tou have mentioned sucks like the fall.

Chameleons , the cure ,the church, siouxsie are enough.

  • My favourite song!

  • stay tuned hector, something might coming your way...

  • Really really good band... uuuhhhh, what a sound of Fender Jazz Bass.... mmmmm.......thanx, Man.... *********

  • Focking great....

  • I can't knock any of the bands mentioned, I can see talent in them all, but I only obsessively play the Chameleons. The others are not inspirational!

  • My personal is that the edge just plagiarized and ripped off the Chameleons' sound.

  • The edge, the cocteaus, and curve, slowdive, ect, ect. At least we know the egg came first.

  • God I would have loved to have been there!

  • this is their live quality? geezus. He sounds like he does on cd lol...AWESOME!

  • Thanks for the post.

Chameleons was a band which most of current musicians should learn how to do great songs.

    A spanish fan.

  • The Chameleons are so criminally underrated. They absolutely deserve to stand next to Joy Division and The Cure, but they're not as nearly as popular, which is a shame.

  • agree...but I am kinda glad Chameleons didnt blow up like the cure.. Chameleons rule the underground scene forever

  • fuck the cure ,, lightweight fags,,

you mean echo and the bunnymen and the fall,,the psychedelic furs,,,the drones,,the pack,,theatre of hate,, fuck the cure,, they were the smiths for lesbians you cunt !!

  • I love you.

I lost my virginity to the Bunnymen a couple years back.

Could never get into the Cure... so hollow compare to The Chameleons, Joy Division, Theatre Of Hate, ect.

  • How are the Cure "hollow"? That's ridiculous.

  • really? you don't know what you're missing mate!

  • @Poccolus4 As with Cocteau Twins imo :) just listen to garlands album and youl know what i mean.

  • What kind of times are these

No one hears, no one sees...

  • well, ain t that the truth.could be.

  • Great music, great band, great lyrics...

  • I will ALWAYS love The Chameleons!

(a 40 year old mom in Los Angeles)

  • You won't regret to love them, i assure you. . We all know the inmense value of their music and the balsamic effect it has for our souls... Regards my friend!

  • cool

  • same, a 40 years old father here!!!

  • Saw them twice in the early 80s for the grand sum of 10 pence... loved them then and love them still.

  • Too damned lucky... I envy you.

  • as she parts her graying hair

  • I love the imagery of this song. Man of Steel laughing in the rain!

  • j'adoooooooooooooooooooooooore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • superb

  • The crowd shots in this say it all!

  • my absolute favourite chameleons track!

what kind of times are these / no one hears no one sees...

  • heroes from shadow!!!! yeah,2xt is right , most underrated band ever

  • Thank you for your support.Nice nickname, by the way!

  • I just discovered this band tonight, why did nobody ever tell me about this band? FUCK! awesome

  • Consider yourself privileged!

  • I just discovered this band tonight, why did nobody ever tell me about this band? FUCK! awesome

  • Cette chanson des Chaméléons déchire tout simplement..

et le bassiste est un tueur ! ! !

  • Hi Checkout my Youtube of something I took last weekend ( 15th March), which may be of intrest to you

  • Added to my favorites, thank you...

  • THE BEST BAND EVER!!!!!

  • as she parts her graying hair.......

what kinds of times are these?

  • I'll say it again and again: the Chams are the most underrated band *ever*.

    Fantastic song, simply perfect.

  • Oh man, that bassline is killer.

  • Brilliant

  • Stikerp.

Ojalá volvieran a tocar.

La buena música no tiene fronteras.

Supongo que serás de Middleton no? Saludos.

  • you can only groove on the chemeleon groove if your a true believer of real music fuck u2 or anyone else infact they where the best band from the uk no one will ever come close ever.u2 ha ha ha this is real music u2 etc is pussy kid music for wankers that want to waste there money to make some arsehole rich. think about it

  • awesome stuff. did mark only have one tshirt to wear in concert or are the other vids from this show available as a collection?

  • me gusta los toy escuchando recien q stilo hacen estos tios post punk? haber sin alguien me recomienda un album

  • Sus albumes son "script of the bridge", "strange times", "What does anything mean basically", "Why call it anything"

El mejor es sin dudas el primero, script of the bridge.

  • the Chameleons were a great band _ i LOVED THEM - BUT HEY THEY WERE NO u2 = NOBODY IS OF COURSE STILL THE CHAMELEONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN HUGE MIKE

  • I'm glad they are no U2, cause after the 1st 3 albums U2 are a pile of shite.

  • Just awesome...Another Peel show fave which I caught on tape cassette!!

  • I'd wish that the last part of the song lasted forever.

  • does it pay off to be humble? a multitude of inferior artists adorn the walls and clothes and dreams of millions of persons. the chameleons were one of the best rock bands ever, and their unfair obscurity (as with the sound)brings a sad or bitter feeling, because injustice hurts

  • Hmmm...Neo80s (rings a bell) modern music? hmmm? Rock?? Belittling?- IS that because rock has links to rock & roll which has links to blue's- 'NEGROES'!!! And you see this 'modern music' being white european, and 'untainted'? Yes, you do you pathetic sick NEOnazi fuck!!! Chameleons ROCK! Get some help.

  • It is white music, what's wrong with that?

  • I've read that guy's explaination of 'modern music' elsewhere on Youtube- there's a lot wrong with it in my opinion.

  • Seems to me there is a lot wrong with him!

  • Well I haven't seen what else he has written but I don't find it racist, as you seem too!

  • They are very cool! Why aren't they a huge band?

  • Your thoughts to God's ears.

  • the people arew not movign enough in this video. . .

i was slammin gto thios music wehen i saw then 24 years ago

  • Somethin bout that town.

  • I love the chameleons because i find them so sophisticated, modest and mature. Only started listening to these guys last year but I find the echoy effects and 80's sounds stands up now. Impeccable timing, complex tunes, and best of all i get the feeling that these guys are actually cool.

  • Try "The Sun and the Moon" which is what the Chameleons became.

  • I would rate the Sun and the moon as a good band, but Marks vocal style together with Reg and Daves guitar sound is unbeatable!

  • I totally agree, nothing like them...especially today when they could still hold their own.

I was overjoyed to find clips on youtube

  • Very underated band, so rare, wonderful...

  • i love the girl in the front row's hair cut!

  • The end of this song, the final minute is pure genius.Rock music does not get any better than this.Sad, that so many people preferred the U2 posers instead of The Chameleons.

  • I ageree u2 was nevr this good.. but boy by u2 was the bst music they ever did

  • Great live song... I have the Chams UK and Mark with the Sons of Goo doing this... You don't get to hear this kind of music very often anymore.

  • great.Thank you for this video. This are the good times of music.I´m very impressed of this band in the good old 80´s.

  • De nada amigo es un honor poder poner esto al alcance de gente que jamás los vio en directo....Ellos se lo pierden...

  • Gracias por subir los videos, sé que tambien eres español. MUY GRANDES CHAMELEONS!!!

  • Please keep 'em coming: this is fantastic! Amazing group. The sound the Chameleons pioneered would change the rock landscape irrevocably....

  • your kidding right?

This sound was around decades ago.

  • "You're", not "your". Of course this sound was around decades ago: The Chameleons formed in 1981. It doesn't look like you understood my post at all. Whatever.

  • I think you must be kidding, right? The Chameleons wrote this music in the early 80's.

    Noob.

  • I think what the chameleons prove is that, 'it was ever thus'.

    Great choon though

Only seen them twice, once in 84 and last year. Both times at Miggleton civic hall(you have to be from there to understand the spelling), and still think they're better in the studio
