@drunkencruncher your welcome man, Schenker had been playing Gibson Flying V's for years, but he made he signed a deal with DEAN in 2004/5 & alot of fans including me didn't like the tone of the Dean but somehow ,I don't know how they did it but now with his signature guitars that tone is back & he just dsounds amazing ,here on this footage at his Home Studio he was still using Gibsons FV's, this is year 2000 around there!

Man...this guy got big at the wrong time. Had his band been opening up for Van Halen he'd be HUGE. Typical 80s Rock Anthem stuff, lots of little stuff really prevented this guy and MSG from just becoming HUGE. It's sad how great artists from genres who have gone out of style become marginalized. That was great! Thanks for posting. Michael is one of my favorite guitarists. So melodic. I had read back in the day that he used 8's for guitar strings. Really super light guage strings. I wonder if he still does?

Schenker has the most unique guitar styles, he does need tapping, his older solos only uses 3 fingers yet fast for high tempo songs.i salute u mr schenker.

@baghiera I'd buy them all, but that's just me. In his later works, where he even played on Bob Kulick's Pink Floyd all star tribute and the MSG covers album (much to his chagrin it was called MSG! BTW), Schenker plays more in-yer-face solo wise, they don't suit the song as well as UFO and vintage MSG albums. Those are the must haves ... all 1980s and 1970s releases, then get Lonesome Crow and Love Drive from Scorpions

I listened to him constantly when I first picked up a guitar, when my bro's were idolizing Clapton, Beck, Page, etc. When I first heard him...I knew this is what the guitar is all about! It's not about the amount of notes, it's how they're delivered. Analogy; It's not what you say but how you say it.

I saw that same show at pechanga casino in temecula. i think it was 1997 there was only a couple hundred people ,.if that... so i was 3 feet from schenker and he was still rippin like he didnt even notice the place was empty. it was then that he moved into the number one alltime best guitarist position.FOR ME ANYWAY

Great behind the scenes video. I went to a UFO show in 08 with low expectations and came away impressed with Vinnie Moore. He put his own stamp on Schenker's solo's giving UFO a fresh sound. That said, Schenker is a unique creative force and Moore is a guitarist.

Does anyone get goosebumps listening to him play or is it just me? Something about his style, phrasing and tone that, I think, tricks my brain into thinking I just had sex. He is like chocolate for the male ear :) I don't listen to much heavy metal and none of the shredders but Schenker is different. He is a Satriani blended with an old blues soul.
