Note that P5N-d MB will NOT allow SLI for bigass 280 or 9800 video cards because SATA plug in is right next ro PCI-e slot for second video card! Dumbass design error!

You can run slim one slot 8800 cards in SLI though and some 8800GTX fat cards since fan housing ends before hitting the SATA plug ins.

Ditch the stock cooler for the second 8800gtx to get sli and the sata connectors. At least the ide can be hidden on some boards. My ancient P5n-sli (570i) is like that when comes to sata.

Running P5N-d board in my huge Cosmos 1000 case with older 3.73 Extreme dual core that is OC'ed to 4.07ghz. Running two 8800GTX in SLI but getting silly stupid 3Dmark6 score of 2980.

Yes, using latest drivers etc. Any help on stepping up this 3Dmark6 score. Note- Runs stable at 59 degree C.

High Temp was anticipated due to 3.73 Extreme dual core was always tempermental.Ran "Pi" stress program for 48 hrs burn in with no problem. HELP anyone??

if i were you id take apart your 8800s and apply your own thermal paste.

just out of curiosity i took apart my 8600 since i upgraded to 2 x 9600, and for one the thermal paste was made of dust, and it was applied so badly it barely made decent contact.

so that might help you reduce the temp

First of all, your're dumb. This is an SLI mobo, not Crossfire. so the extra PCIe 2.0 slots are useless to you. and this is not really a card... per say, it kind of is, since it is a giant PCB but anyhoo, it goes by like two terms, mainboard and motherboard. and the fact that you didn't list any brands, just the technology manufacturer makes me believe you didn't actually order it.

I have ordered the things I choose a sli motherboard because I am gonna upgrade it with nvidia card in the future because I think nvidia will get back on top. It doesnt matter if it is't a crossfire card because the ati cards works on that motherboard but it does't work in cf. So maby it was't thattupid after all think before you act.

Well, what you should've done is gone with another motherboard that supports crossfire and kept the 4870 x2.

Or kept the motherboard and gone Nvidia and SLI.

Also notice, that you can't run crossfire on a SLI motherboard and vise verse, As o00JONESY00o mentioned

I have this board - it's decent, but:

1) tough to overclock (stability issues)

2) careful w/ adding a large cooler - the capacitors near cpu socket get in the way.

components - e8400 CPU, 2 8800gt GPUs, Tuniq air cooling block - corsair 800ghz Twinx mem. 4GB.

Had this setup clocked to about 3.8GHz -that's the highest - and it would crash often.

Backed it down to about 3.4GHz, it runs fine.

3,4 seems fine =P above that i highly doubt you'll achieve anymore performance...as the other parts of the cpu will limit the execution speed, meaning that the cpu wont get to use the full potential of the Mhz. but that's just me...
