Men are victims of of DV just as frequently as women are. Difference is, women don't generally have the physical strength to inflict any serious injury. I've been slapped (and even punched) by many of the women I've been with. Never felt "endangered" on any level, though. It still ain't right, but there's a big difference between a man getting a red cheek and a woman being hospitalized by her SO. I've only personally known of one case where the man was seriously injured by the woman.

its not just the elderly men that are victims of domestic violence. here is a common scenario. a very strong man gets hit by his wife and does not hit her back because he is afraid of hurting her or afraid of getting arrested for hitting her. i have a friend who's wife frequently hits him. her excuse is that it does not hurt him (he is pretty tough). but we wouldn't accept that if the roles were reversed (oh it doesn't matter if i hit her, she can take it).
