  • I thought this was a reference to Professor Layton. I thought this because there were various puzzles in this episode and the organ in the convent kind of reminded me of the detragon.

  • OMG!! XD

  • I don't think its a Professor Layton reference but it's still funny.

  • Wow...give me some time to figure that one out...I'll get it after maybe six tries of resetting the puzzle.

    That's pretty funny.

  • There was another, were Homer (A.K.A in the episode:The Safety Salamander) was running for mayor.

    Homer:I can't do it I'm only one man! D8>

Lisa:Layton was only one man o3o

Homer:Yeah.Well I bet he was hiding a midget under his hat.. >F(

  • @Calebtheunknowned She said Lincoln. O_O

Still, you never see the two of them in the same place at the same time. And they both have tall hats.

  • critical thiking is the key to success XD!

  • I was playing the "Puzzle Solving song" from Professor Layton while watching this scene. lol it kinda works^^

  • Here's the answer:

Assuming that the dog can't get into the poison, first the baby, then the dog, then on your trip back to get the poison, bring the baby, then bring the poison, and go back and get the baby.

    Why?

The riddle never says that you can't take something on a trip back to the other side, so the player usually doesn't consider that option for a while. The origional(or at least the most popular) are the ones with the wolf(dog), chicken(baby), and corn/grain(poison).

  • They refrence Professor Layton because Homer asked the professor for help.

    Derrr...

  • i think the puzzle was in prof layton, but it wasnt created for those games. that puzzle has been around for years, in all sorts of things, they used it in prof payton because they could

  • holy crap for once homer is smart!

  • ALL NEW 24!!!! WOAH!!!!

    what's 24?

  • @Catjean8 its a tv show but it ended like 4 months ago :P

  • I have to admit when I first saw this scene I did automaticly think "Professor Layton" X3

  • i remember this episode and i laughed

  • The reference isn't the puzzle itself. Its how its presented. A man has a predicament/puzzle (homer), he calls on a professor who happens to be nearby (Frank) to help him. At the end the screen says "Puzze the first" much like "Puzzle 001".

  • Granted it is one old and ancient riddle that's been around for centuries, but I still like to believe that the creator likes Professor Layton XD

  • Omg it's Three Wolves Three Chicks

  • thats a old puzzle made centerys before professor layton

  • 0:58 ooo! Brand new House and 24 tomorrow on Fox!

  • Homer: the poison comes with me and-dammit! Santa's helper ate the baby.....

  • I was stuck on this puzzle on Professor Layton while watching this episode: It gave me the answer!!!

  • i freeked out when i watched this episode XD

  • Oh you silly, that's an ancient puzzles that's been around for centuries... It was in the game though, and I found it funny seeing it on The Simpsons!

    LOL

  • *imagines Homer doing Layton's correct pose*

  • homer: please work please work please work...

    CORRECT!

    homer: WOOHOO!

  • This puzzle is worth 50 picarats

  • This is the Japanese River puzzle...

  • This puzzle actually existed 1500 YEARS before Layton and the simpson, you moron! XD

  • @darkrailand Still is not a reference, don´t be big head

  • I remember that puzzle :3

  • It isn't a reference, but in Family Guy, the part with the chicken fight on the ferris wheel reminds me of the ferris wheel following Layton and Luke.

  • mow i know what time house is on

  • OH YHEA!!!! :D Professor Layton!!!! I was like, LAYTON APPEAR OUT OF NOWHERE NAO!!!! XD

  • classic puzzle

  • ROFL PROFFESSAAH?

  • I LOLD

  • What episode number includes this passage? I would love to see it all!

  • I also thought of a Layton reference because in this episode they say "puzzle" but I don't think they thought of it ! Because puzzle games are mostly known ... I don't know in fact

PS : A really good qualityof video could be great =)

  • lol o_0 he must be crazy canoueing to the other side leaving maggie behind xD

  • It could just be a generic puzzle reference. *shrug* but still, AWESOMENESS!

  • when i first started playing this my freind gave me an r4 card with this us version of the curious village,i admit i thought it would be crap at first, but its soooooo AWESOME!!!! problem is i live in the uk and ive seen/heard that the voices are different and annoying on the eu version, want to get the us version, but ive been on ebay and i can like only get it from hong kong!!! arrrrrrrg!!!!!

  • @Lolzagirl

Huh? Aren't the voice actors for the US & the UK version one and the same?

  • @UshiUshiKaku nope

  • @UshiUshiKaku Ive seen a video where sumones compared lukes voice on the curious village in the US to the one in the EU and they sound completely different (I personally prefer the US one) I just want to know if its like that throughout the whole PL series

  • @Lolzagirl

Ah, yes. I've just seen said video and, personally, I find US Luke's voice doesn't suit the character's age (this is especially evident in The Diabolical Box) and UK Luke really isn't as annoying as people crack him up to be.

  • @UshiUshiKaku Yeh, I'm playing the diabolical box now! ^^ (US version) the voice is much lower, I guess i prefer it cause I've kinda got used to the characters

  • I want my sis to see this clip, she always mocks me when I'm playing PL saying that its for loners, WHICH IT ISN'T (at least i dont think so) then I can go ha! it must be pretty popular or famous if they're using it in the simpsons!

  • @Lolzagirl Your sister sounds like a bitch and an obnoxious cunt who needs to get the shit beaten out of her as soon as possible.

  • @HappyAppleCider hehehehe believe me,she sooooooo is! :D

  • @Lolzagirl

    She knows NOTHING

Games like professor layton and ace attorney are people who like VARIETY, what does SHE play anyway? BARBIE? XD

  • @hotdiddykong2 I KNOW!!!! lol!!!! ^_^ at least I'm not the one! thx guys!

  • @Lolzagirl

    I play Proffesor Layton. <<

    lol

  • which ep is this :D

  • This is made of win.

  • I was waiting for the Ferris Wheel. XD

  • I'm not sure if this is a direct Layton nod, but I do recall a question on Jeopardy with the answer of Professor Layton. Nobody knew the answer, and at home I was screaming "LAYTON!" at the TV. XD

  • @waaurufu do you remember the question?

  • @maryelizabeth1216 Well, I went and looked it up, and here's what the question was:

In 2009 this Nintendo professor moved from "The Curious Village" to "The Diabolical Box"

  • Comment removed

  • there was a puzzle like this in professor Layton except Wolf=Dog, Sheep=Maggie, and Cabbage=Poison

  • this is a common riddle thought of many, many years ago.

  • as soon as i seen the puzzle i thought

    OMFG LAYTON!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • lol! this is a job for professor layton! :DD

  • @NeenjaGrl acually luke does the puzzle

  • @rentenzen1 =-=

  • idiot, that whole episode of the Simpsons is all one big reference to the Da Vinci Code

  • When I saw this, I screamed.

    "PROFESSOR LAYTON CBDHSCHCFYHCVDJSCV!"

  • I Lol'd

  • 0:53...TWILIGHT!!!!! :O:O:O:O

  • @xxxbella2k10xxx

    twilight is so gay

  • lol when i saw this on tv i was like "JHDFKHFDKHDFSKJ PROFESSAH"

  • @Professaaaah You know that this isn't a reference to the game right? That puzzle is very old.

  • @bloodelfpallie Actually, yes I do, it's not the puzzle it's the fact that they put the words "Professor" and "Puzzle" together and for a laytontard like myself, it's hillarious. Even if I'M SURE they weren't referencing the game.

  • Well in the first game, Layton and Luke need to get across the river to the manor. The boat man ( forget his name) gives them the puzzle to test their skill to allow them to cross. I guess its a similar situation here but not really.

  • ramon, he is the guy that is at the river at all times

  • @dhousem ramon

  • This is actually a classic puzzle that preceded the Professor Layton games. As much as I love that game, the puzzle came first :P

  • No, guys, you see, it's the way it's presented. The puzzle exists in the real world, and Homer/Layton must solve it in order to proceed. Chances are Matt Groening and Co. are using a well-known riddle to avoid potential copyright confusion. I know puzzles aren't trademarked, but still, not worth the risk. But it's still all in the presentation.

  • brilliant

  • Actually, it's a very old and famous riddle. >:

  • @DekuranChan Normally it's chicken and wheat instead, but this is better!

  • The only reference I see is that he asks a Professor for help.

    Sorry. D;

  • the reference its that Homer its in a problem, and that problem its a puzle from Professor Layton

  • that kind of puzzle is kind of well known though....:/

  • I only explain what it's the reference, i already know this puzzle is old enough

  • no its a puzzel

  • If you played the game, It's one of the compulsory puzzles, but with 2 wolves and 3 sheep

  • 3 wolves 3 chicks

  • it is not a nod to professor layton. It's a puzzle that's already a bazillion years old.

They even said so in the game itself.

  • Yes, and another proof is that there is a flash game which is the same problem which is displayed in the video, BEFORE THE LAYTON GAMES WERE MADE. xD

Pd: I like Layton games! :D

  • lol!

  • lol

the wolves an chicks puzzle? WTF XD

  • didn't really look like a PL reference to me

  • XOXO

  • sup /b/

  • Hai CE

  • RI FTW

  • I don't think so, Tim.
