u guys r amazing human beings!! im a huge animal myself! i have and been riding horses all my life, im also an exotic animal hobbyist reptiles in particular i have many! they r treated just as u guys treat ur cats...the world needs more people like u guys great job!!!!!
This makes me sick. I am a deer hunter.. but I hunt 100% fair. I am 100% "caged" hunts. I hate people who shoot for the "heck" of it. Oh, I just spent 200$ and two cougars and want their heads on my wall?! That guy is a real sob in my book and deserves the name coward, not hunter.
I also have a soft spot for big cats ( and wolves) and respect them greatly. I have seen a wild bear(got a picture too!) I would love to see a wild wolf or big cat! Not to shoot, but to just see them wild and untamed.
*cough* Sorry, it's just I've seen a bunch of hunter posts on predator videos saying that all the predators should die and all that junk. Remember to leave some deer for the cougars! :)
Is Sophie on the tour path? We visited last week and I didn't see her with the other cougars like Hal, Mac and Enya. I know she's a little elderly, and blind, so I figured she might prefer some solitude. I'm sponsoring her and it's a true honor to do so. :)
Not directly on the tour path she is in an enclosure behind Aspen and Hal, it's a good spot, quiet but close to other cats for her to smell and say hello to, which is something she didn't have where we rescued her from. Of course the concrete was replaced with soft dirt and grass and she as improved enormously :) Thanks for visiting and supporting our cats, without people like you we wouldn't be able to rescue these cats :)
Your doing great work. I'm sure this cat wil live out her life in comfort. But I just wish there was a way she could roam a mountainside, free and wild. It's a shame that selfish ppl try to keep these animals as pets. It never works out.
i`ve said it before and , i`m going to say it once again, you guys at BCR are real animal friends, and ur doing the best job in the world , wish i could be one of you
Sophie was a "pet", the private ownership of big cats is banned in only 18 states, it is far too easy to get a licence and have a tiger or lion in your backyard!
Hello BigCatRescue! I've been thinking about my future carrer latley. And I thought about starting my own Big Cat sanctuary!!! I was wondering, how much does it cost to run this phasility monthly? And what would you have to do to work at your sanctuary. Because I really want to go through with this and interact with Big Cat's up close. It's been my dream.
Hi, It costs us around one million dollars a year to keep the sanctuary running. We only have a few staff members then over a hundred volunteers, so our staff members wear many hats, you just need to be hardworking, have experience working with animals and most importantly a passion for what we are trying to do! Check out our website for more info, bigcatrescue*org
dnt read this(cuz it really wrks). u will gt kissd on the nearest frieday by the love of ur life. 2mara wll b the bst day of ur life hwever if you dnt post ths comment 2 at least 3 vids u will die withn 2 days nw uv startd readn this dnt stp this is so scary snd ths ovr 2 5 vids in 143 mins when ur done press f6 nd ur crush's name wll appear on the screen n big letters ths is so scary cuz it actully wrks ths really wrks
At this point in her life, we just want to make Sophie as comfortable as possible and wouldn't want to risk sedating her and operating on her now. It would be very traumatic and it's all about quality of life.
Oh I am so happy for dear Sophie. I would say I hate people but for lovely people like Big Cat Rescue and those that support them & other animal causes. I can't live without animals.
hey bigcat rescue i cam down i few years ago and i ever since then we have been donatiing to you guys and i i was wondering what do i have to do to become one of you guys
Hey, thanks for your support, where do you live, if you're talking about volunteering, you can visit our bigcatrescue*org which as all the details, you don't have to have any prior experience, we train you up! Hope to see you at BCR!
Wow! Cool to hear Sophie is pretty-good-all-right. People don't realize how social big cats can be. I'm glad she yowls, and responses back to the other cougars. Great job!
Your videos are so heartwarming. To know there are people like you who care so much for these beautiful animals is a great counter to all the horror stories we hear too often about animal abuse. Congratulations!
We are glad too, alot of local people don't realise we are here and how big we are. Big Cat Rescue as been around for 16 years now, the area around us as been developed alot since then.
If you want to look into more wildcats to save, please check into the GuZoo in Three Hills, Alberta(canada)? It really is a horrible place...
Unclean water, unclean cages, tiger cage is too small, letting people handle new born tigers for money, having fences easy for tigers to climb out of, and lots more. It has over 100 violations, but sadly they have nowhere to put the animals if they take them away.
It's sad there are many places like this and we would like to rescue all the animals and give them a good life in captivity at BCR, yet we just don't have the room or funds. Like you said it would be great to close places like that down, but then the animals are homeless, what we are trying to do also is to get tougher laws and regs brought in now so no more animals have to suffer like this, thanks for watching and commenting.
That's so great! Cougars are my favorite big cat, but I've never had the privilege to see one up close before. It's my dream to volunteer or work at a big cat rescue!
I can sort of understand someone wanting to own a Serval or Bobcat--SORT OF--because those aren't as gigantic. But who would possibly want a cougar? What kind of ego-maniac needs to have a big cat?
It's beyond words, really.
I like what you's guys at BCR preach: "Keep wild cats in the wild--not as pets."
Servals and Bobcats can be just as bad, bobcats can take down full grown deer in the wild! A lot of big cat owners just want to be different and unique so they buy tiger cubs.
it's always the animals that suffer though, not the stupid people! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Poor old girl, it's dynamite that she was lucky enough to end up with you guys. I finally made it down there for a visit to your sanctuary a few weeks ago, you guys run a top notch operation, very well organized. Actually saying slight disappointment was a poor choice of words, while I'd have liked to have seen him there wasn't anything disappointing about my visit. Thanks for all the work you guys do.
Thanks, we're glad to have her, it's great to see her lying down on the soft ground instead of the concrete, with her cougar neighbors to keep her company!
I actually laughed so hard at this video. I had a interaction with a cougar named Sophie a few years back. and I mean the figurative sense of the word cougar.
It's really nice to see that she is being taken care of and will have the opportunity to live out her life in the best possible way. You give me hope in the human kind.
Could Sophie's blindness be related to her previous enclosure?..Besides the cougar being big enough to take down most dogs, there's health concerns to take into consideration.Cougars are best left outside,in the wild.
u guys r amazing human beings!! im a huge animal myself! i have and been riding horses all my life, im also an exotic animal hobbyist reptiles in particular i have many! they r treated just as u guys treat ur cats...the world needs more people like u guys great job!!!!!
