i finnaly got my snow leopard 10.6.3 hackintosh working :D but ive ran into 1 major problem i cant get the ethernet working i was just wandering if you had any advice on how to get it working but other than that great tutorials and keep working at them.
and one other thing why did you block "trochw00d90" from commenting on videos ?
@TreeniePop Look into exactly what ethernet chipset you have, and then look it up online (Insanely Mac). You'll get a plethora of information to help you in your quest to get that working.
If I did block someone, it would be because they were exceptionally rude and/or off-topic. Every now and then, someone makes it obvious that they are merely trying to spread hate and start off-topic arguments. I block such people. Disagreeing with me is fine, but being a troll is not.
@bonlouk My ethernet has worked fine both with the older motherboard I used (P5K-V) and the newer one (EP45-UD3P). You may have to look for a KEXT to get it to work. Try searching the internet and Insanely Mac for your specific ethernet chipset. Don't know your chipset? Look at the motherboard box, or go online and look up your motherboard. Also you can check Device Manager under Windows, or System Profiler under Mac.
I have Snow Leopard installed a video up demoing the new rig. I did *not* do an update, and do not recommend it for a variety of reasons. I followed the Lifehacker guide, you can search for "Lifehacker snow leopard" and it's the first Google result.
That's very true... sometimes stuff just doesn't run the way it should. Someone will tell you that they did something to get their audio working, and then when you try the same thing with the same audio chipset, it doesn't work. OS X on PC hardware is a bit fussy.
yes, but obviously thats understandable..even still I'm glad you got this to work for you...it didnt exactly run perfectly on my destop a year ago when i tried but i will be getting my some what compatible hp hdx 16 laptop in a week and Ill give it another go around and see what happens
hey one question...You installed the Retail version...what i was wondering is did you have to remove any incompatible kexts after installing OR install any kexts (other than sound, video, etc...)
I ask b/c the point of the hacked versions of leopard was to take care of some of the kexts problems, but I have a retail dvd and was wondering if there is anything I need to do after installing using your method (excluding sound, network, and video)
I didn't delete any kexts. I only installed the kexts I listed in my tutorial. Sleep does not work (if it wakes back up, ethernet doesn't work), and sometimes when I do a Shutdown, I have to manually power off the tower unit. Other than that, no problems. Though, to be honest, this time around (my third install) I'm getting iTunes crashes after my video card puts the monitor into "monitor sleep mode" (standby). Haven't figured it out yet.
Fox, your hackintosh tutorial is the most informative and helpful I have come across so far. I plan on doing this shortly once I get all of my hardware together. I'll be using your retail DVD/bootloader method. Thanks for this video series, it really is great!

good videos...but you are a little too optimistic about getting stuff to work...a lot of the time a bunch of stuff just never works, oh well
once again...amazing videos though
