i like the square design of the illuminated keyboard better. i bought it for my stepfather for christmas last year, but got the k800 for myself on amazon few days ago because i wanna also use it while my PC is connected to my desktop and TV. i also got the g700 mouse which i have in hand now and i love, but a shame you cant use one sensor for both.
Should I buy this, or a more "gaming" keyboard, i'm going to use it for gaming as well as for normal use, i mean, web surfing, media, like movies, songs, and word, powerpoint, some work... I'm not a HARDCORE gamer, i mean, i dont play WOW, but i play some FPS, and RACING... DO the lighting make some difference, and, are they annoying, or are they just fine, please i'm trying to buy something "cheap" so, give me some other recommendation if this is not "for" me...
I've noticed the receivers are kept really close to the peripherals. Is that really necessary for optimal performance? Cause if it is then half the point of a wireless set is gone.
Thanks for the thorough review. Personally, I found your narrative diction just fine. It worked to convince me that you were serious and had taken the time to explore the product. Thanks for keeping it unpretentious. Those seeking gimmicky shockjock narration can find it elsewhere.
I bought 1 of these exactly 2 weeks ago today and am very happy with it. I use it in the evenings fairly lightly (because usually I'm gaming on my G13 and G25, etc.) and it still shows full battery with three indicator lights. I also turn it off during the day when not in use. I have not detected any delay at all and am happy with the feel. The only complaint: it does not work with my G700 mouse receiver, but that isn't the keyboard's fault - that's because the G700 receiver isn't "unifying".
@skykingusa nope that sucks you can't use the same reciever, they really should find a way to combine all of the software, if you buy a gaming mouse, a keyboard and a headset, you have 3 different softwares..
well im fine with this keyboard just got it today. I'm guessing you're a FPS player? I'm a RTS(Starcraft 2) kind of guy and it's not a big problem for me, but I can see your point Caskirnov.
@MiNsTeRStArCrAfT yeah if you play RTS style, WoW, you might prefer a keyboard with macros, a gaming keyboard but Caskirnov is wrong in saying the keyboard isn't for gaming. it works for alot of your basic gaming but it's not a Gaming Keyboard.
Does anyone know why this isn't a good gaming keyboard? Is the only issue ctrl + w + spacebar? That shouldn't be a big deal for me since I hardly play fps games.
Your review is super explicit and did not expect you to include K750 for comparison which's awesome and brilliant move for additional review of Logitech Software for newbie. +1 Hope other people learn the accurate way of reviewing the product "Like You" !
Some technical problems aside (could use a bit better lighting and sound editing) This was a very informative and and perceptive comparative review. Thanks and good work.
You covered pretty much everything to wanted to know about the keyboard. Thank you. I would suggest doing some post commentary though so you don't have to edit in corrections, you can just do a retake of the voice. This is what I do on 90% of my videos so that it seems smoother to the audience. With that said, I would rather you have a 12 min video that I can skip around to learn what I want to know, then you not say everything about the keyboard and me having to find more videos. Keep it up!
It would have been nice if it had an automatic reset button? I believe you just hit that button when you turned it on and off. In fact it's smarter to do that because you don't clutter the keyboard with useless buttons.
@12danny21 Yep. Guess logitech didn't intend this keyboard to be used for fps gaming but for typing purposes only. "They really want you to buy the G-series" : )
That's holding the crtl+w+spacebar keys at the same time. So when your playing a fps game you move foreward with w than holding ctrl to run and the spacebar to jump. Your shooting with live rounds :) No need then..
@Caskirnov it's a keyboard and it works for most gaming, if you need your advanced gaming controls then go in the gaming keyboard section
i never said this was a "gaming keyboard" nor did i compare it to a gaming keyboard. it works for basic gaming, CSS, BF2...if you need macros then no this keyboard isn't for you
i thought you'd realize the difference between "gaming keyboard" and "keyboard that works for gaming"
Yeah I know, sorry about that. To impulsive. Just disappointed about what you are trying to sell here at 11:53 . As you said ''Nice for gaming'' and the fact that it works for basic gaming like CSS, BF2 you need that combo when playing fps and... Thats very basic/normal. The macros can be done via the mouse (g700,razer naga, etc). Many Kisses C
@Caskirnov Nice for gaming, in the way that it's very responsive, lit-up keyboard, its very comfy and fast. yes it doesn't have combo keys but you can't expect that from an "office/pro" keyboard. i have plenty of gaming friends that bought it but they aren't into using the combo keys.
I didn't think anyone would actually wonder if this keyboard would do the combo keys, i would've been really surprised if it did
Buddy, i noticed that "Escape key" is fitted deeper in the body as compared to all keys, tht includes all "F" keys as well. Your unit in particular has similar, OR i got an isolated minor problem.
@domsuyang i am interested in the product but the secret to a successful review is to get the information across quickly and effectively as not to cause boredom or detract from the product review.
