@A01002401 lol I've tried with might to get friends and colleagues into classics: Dr. Zhivago, Mr. Roberts, Murphy's War, Papillon, and other cinematic gems. The feedback I've received were pretty much : "Boooriiinggg!"
Too bad. 98% of stuff out there are nothing but style with little to no substance. What a shame.
@A01002401 I saw this first when I was 14 & didn't understand the reverence for Queeg,But as I got older,I fully understood. He was not an evil man just tired,& unable to see it for himself. For the most part, Greenwald's assessment was dead on.
@Ultra80s wow, you are so right. ambitious loser, doing the best that he could.....i could be disdained, but look beneath the surface....so sad, such a waste. you are so right.
My favorite scene from the movie. The disintegration of a man's personality, rattling down, letting the mask slip, showing his true colors - call it what you will. Superb acting from Bogart. Great Post.
Pure brilliance!

Classic. When I was in the Navy we used to have endless debates about this movie and the lessons to take from it.
