  • I remember this game coming out on 10-13 floppy discs

  • wow u got the real game box?? i miss it!!

  • such a great dark and industrial feel to all the music

  • What I liked better , If i remember well, is that if you have two factories of the same kind, you could build two of the same units à the same time... I think that was not possible in C&C, at least not in the original engine... no?

  • I haven't ever tried that out... But No from my knowledge, building multiple factories and the like, decreases the building speed of units made from the factory or barracks etc.

  • @ComboTroop

It's as OBSysteme says, you could build units or whatever else at the same time with different buildings of the same kind.

It was a hassle because you had to manage every building separately, but that was also the case for all the units.

The good times, clicking units one by one while attacking/defending :D

  • yeah

  • Not bad for 16bit ....

  • I believe that the primitive controls, which will require your constant attention, are part of what makes this game so great. The need of attention will make you forget everything else and bring you on the Arrakis :)

  • Yeah, but harvesters, like, they were dummies, they wouldn't do much to escape the enemies if getting shot at or that, but still, it was worth playing this game

  • One of the first games I played, but on a PC with an different cover....loved it. Still love it, but can't stand the stupid controls anymore. C&C is just a tad better in everything.

  • Yes, the controls were a bit frustrating, and Harvester Baby sitting, but its nevertheless a good game!

  • I am playing C&C again for the first time in years (for the record, Dune II is one of my most-played games, along with Star Control II) and although the interface is newer and you can select multiple units, I find the AI when moving a unit is retarded (taking the long way, driving near turrets etc.).

Dune II frustrates me less, and I personally enjoy commanding each unit individually.

It brings with it a uniquity unseen in the genre, along with intimacy with each unit.

  • @terr0rwolf

in Sega megadrive the control were little bit fixed really good to play DUNE2 on sega em :)

  • Cool to see at 1:10 and 1:30 , different versions of Dune II - The Maker!

Dune 2 remains my favorite :)

  • Yup, i have played the Oringial Dune 2 not Dune 2 - The Maker

  • As author of Dune 2 - The Maker, i am always interested in people who have played Dune 2, what they think of Dune 2 - The Maker.

One of my goals was to resemble as much as I could the dune 2 'feeling'. Perhaps you could give it a try? :)

  • Ok! Will do! I'll search for a download!

  • I played it on my Amiga 500 back then, only it had different music, with a special climax and no percussion at all, anyone know what I'm talking about? GREAT game BTW!

  • It is a great game! Yeah, the music woulda been different due to the different used sound cards and midi synthisiser software on them!!!

  • found the Amiga gameplay vid if U wanna know how it sounds.

  • Cool!

  • Games produced after the year 1999-2000 just became rubbish, the 90's were the golden days of gaming. This is one of the proofs, game companies still make tradition RTS nowadays..

  • Yeah, I like Left 4 Dead, that's an good Zombie-survival FPS released 2008, there are only an few Non-crap games being released nowadays, but I think there are some good games now, I hope, unless EA Games fucks them all up!!!

  • hehe, you sure are active :) But ye, Left 4 Dead brought a bunch of new stuff, and it was in general a well made game... I think the problem is that the community rocks so much, if they produce a game with a crappy internet lobby system, the community makes a free server program, if they release an unplayable game, the community makes community patches to fix it.

  • I suppose, i think game companies need to clean up their act, espically PC game Designers, as you know, they could be using the Internet Community for their needs, like patches and new content, but SDK Kits are useful, i wish Companies sorted the stuff out, before they release it!

  • what the hell is wrong with germans. This game is not german ffs! same with french, spanish etc. read a book!

  • I ain't German, I am English , nor did i say in my info about the Vid it was a German Game! These screenshots, well some of them are in German!

And yes is isnt a German Videogame, its an English and American Game, however Germans do play the old C&C and Dune games Majorly.

  • Everyone agrees that Dune had some of the best ambience music ever?

It really makes the game immersive. No wonder we all got addicted to it.

The graphics, everyone's not-so-good obsession in videogames these days, are actually very good in this game too.

I especially like the colors. Maybe it's because I was 4 or 5 when I first played, but I adore the colorfulness of this game...

... somethign impressive, considering that most of the area is yellow sand.

  • Yeah!! I hate Sony, EA Games and bits of Microsoft and Nintendo for supplying graphics Fan-Boys with real maybe too-over-powered graphics! Why does everyone like graphics more than gameplay???

  • I habeeb you can still find this game on abandonia. There are edited versions out there that let you play as the sardaukar, fremen or mercenary teams (with the odd technical error). I loved this game, it's got more old-school charm than its remake.

  • yea, i know also on the Megadrive one, i think you can enter a cheat or something to play as the emperor!

  • Nice to see that it has Dune II - The Maker screenshots, even very old ones (the first one is the oldest)

  • Thanks, im only 13 years of age but Dune2 still blasts from the past, i guess it one of those games you can't forget, but its a shame nowdays that people just like games for their graphics not gameplay, we got to keep these old, abandonware games still going! If not, the world of gaming will be Fucked!
