I don't care what anyone says about being a so-called, 'anorak', but this kind of thing is what made TV all the more endearing back in it's day. When there was supposedly, 'nothing on', we got some really interesting sounds in the form of this, 'easy listening', music. No pretentions of any kind, just straight-forward and to the point. Unlike 90% of today's programming which is vacuously condesending, appealing to the lowest denominator, trash.
@TheShadowcliff WHY? You could ask the same question concerning 95% of the videos submitted on here. You obviously don't appreciate or understand why someone would put up such a video on Youtube, and that's fine. That's your prerogative. You don't have to watch it, but there are those who do want to view it. Why? They obviously find something appreciative about it's content, and like you, it's their prerogative to think that way. They choose to watch it, as you can choose not to watch it.
god i would sit for ages staring at the tv early on a saturday morning waiting for cartoons to come on....wondering why the wee girl and clown didnt do anything.
They don't make it like this anymore.god how I've missed this triumph of cheesy yet surreal, spookly mesmerising image that's burned into the mass consienceness of an entire generation. Just who is that strange "little Red Riding Hood" I would ask as a kid.what is at stake in this nightmare eternal noughts and crossess game. With a weridly shaped sinister grimacing clown...who was he?.and would he triumph..? All set in some mechanical monochrome prison grid.
God bless You Tube!

The tune is called 'Red Carpet Ride' by John Shakespeare. Kenny Clare plays drums.

This tune has never been used by the BBC with any test card. It's still good though!

This tune is so cool - in a mellow 70s sort of way. What an era!

Best Daytime TV ever!!
Here's an idea - a Satellite Channel of this, 24/7. Breakfast with Test Card C, Morning Special with Test Card F....
Wouldn't work - would it?

That's "Red Carpet Ride" by John Shakespeare. You can find it and many other library songs from the 60s and early 70s on my compilation albums.

Her name is Carol Hershee, and there's a clip of her in the same pose 40 years later to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Test Card F.
