one of my all time fav's! and in answer to that probing question, ..the original version was "...aren't we Married" the "Lovers version was from a re release of the song! ...now I've got flats to fix and angels to romance and daughters named Sue to spoil!
just heard about marc moulin passin' away.....(silence).....but i remember the original version for "sex" being "aren't we married?" and the re-release for "birds and bees" being "aren't we lovers?"; there was also a breakdown of sorts before the third verse (the drums just dropped off) in the re-release.
Sparks collaborated in this album. Masterpiece. The Sparks collaborated with Moroder one year before in the album N. 1 in Heaven. Incredible years. I was 15 i bought all their discs and i still own them.
The reason for the change of lyrics, is because there were 2 versions of the album which contained this track. The European version called "SEX", and the UK version called "Birds and Bees".
Lovers lyric is the european, and married is from the UK version.
Class!

one other thing - i think the re-release was a little shorter, maybe by 45 seconds, because the intro was edited and the ending faded sooner.

i don't think so... depeche mode isn't this robotic... i'd love to know where you heard that, though. like, really. i'm curious.

@zetsusama23
Not for this reason. Mainly for the use of synthesizer on the early Depeche Mode tracks.

from the LP 'Sex" (It was re-titled 'birds and bees' for the US release. Cool 'tele-funken" sound.

The "SEX" album was also renamed "Birds and Bees for the UK release.
