i cried when i saw the opening, it's been 6 years since i watched this anime, it brings back so many great memories, i used to watch this every night, i remember watching ghost in the shell, full metal alchemist, neon genesis evanglion etc. they were my first animes and still my favourites!

Creo que ghost in the shell es un buen anime porque presenta una trama muy profunda capaz de ser abordada desde diversos puntos de vista. Quizas lo unico malo en el anime es que hay que prestarle mucha atencion para no perderse porque, en efecto, las cuestiones que trata son muy densas sobre todo cuando se habla de politica.

@himenootakudesu It's because it's from the UK version, it's sped up a tiny tiny bit because of the fps difference between PAL and NTSC, which noticeably sounds less high pitched and "slower". Personally I prefer the UK versions of both openings, the 2nd opening in PAL sounds badass slightly sped up.

Yes. I think this must be the one used in the UK. UK is a PAL Region 2 country and most NTSC or Region 1 films and shows, like those made in America or even Japan, play around 4% faster in the Region 2 PAL countries for technical reasons

Yeah, the song is sped up a bit, so the whole thing has been raised half a key. The original was in F minor/B-flat minor. This one is in F# minor/B minor.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but in my opinion, it sounds way better like this.

I think it sounds better too. ITs bcoz its the UK version. The video format thats used in the UK is PAL region 2 which means when films from NTSC regions such as Japan or US are brought to the UK, they are often sped up by 4%. Im not sure whether its deliberate or if it just happens automatically but if you watched the NTSC DVD of this in UK it would play at a normal pace so I think its deliberate with digital versions of this.

I believe it's just a sign of bad work on the DVD. On the 2nd series I think there's one or two DVD's where the conversion from NTSC to PAL is done the right way, so the episodes are NOT sped up by 4%.

Good thing is that you can downgrade the framerate manually to the original with video/audio codecs like ReClock.

I've realise that Manga Entertainment's DVD's always have some kind of bugs. So I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them.

If you really want to watch things at the original speed without loosing fidelity u can always import the NTSC versions.

The Anime, Stand Alone Complex, is not as great as the intro makes it seem. Not in my honest opinion. But you should DEFINITELY watch the two movie made by Oshii: Ghost in the shell, from 1995, and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence from 2004. Two of my favourite of all time, so deep, so philosophic, so real and so simply awesome!! Batou is awesome in those movies... in the series, NOT made by Oshii, they make him look like crap! ^^

Well, if you ask me, GitS and Innocence are good when you want to watch something that makes you think hard on the world, but they are just too deep for regular entertainment. (I'm in love with them both, however, and I really love Solid State Society as well!) SAC is however okay to watch in a common weekday, lighter but still makes you think, and I'm just a sucker for it's technological environment! XD

Yes, absolutely! That's what I love about those two, they're so philosophically brilliant. And yes, it's those kind of movies you really have to have quite a deep mind to really get focused on. But the SAC seems like everyday anime to me. I'm not saying it's bad, definitely, it's entertaining. But doesn't go that little extra in it for someone like me to keep watching the series ^^

Nope, Stand Alone Comples has nothing to do with the Two Movies from 1995 and 2004 directed by Oshii. However, SAC was succeded with one Movie based on the series. But the two Oshii-movies remain detached from SAC.

Also, only some effects in the second Ghost in the Shell movie is 3-D, other than that, it's good ol' anime, only WAY better drawn. However, last year they re-released the first movie updated with todays special effects and picture, which means some more 3-D effects is put in place.

I've been a Pianist for about 6 years, and I just played a few notes of this song between the Album and TV versions, the Aeria Gloris part on the Album is " D Eb D G F" on this, it is "Eb E Eb G# F#" on this TV version, so thus as RockinOn217 said, it is a half step higher.

When she was young, she had to be given a fully prosthetic body which she found hard to control and broke apart the doll she loved as a child. They cover the issue of her receiving the artificial body after an accident as a child in 2nd Gig :)
