  • You say nitch, I say neesh. How did the challenge work out for you?

  • On the 30 day challenge of mind mapping, why did you challenge others to mind map? I had a difficult time understanding that part. I am all for mind mapping, and use Freemind extensively but I was hoping to learn why you wanted to challenge others to mind map for 30 days - what did you want viewers to get out of it?

  • Seems like he had forgotten the basics of min mapping !!!. Key word on the main branches and sub branches are missing !!!Or Has he created his own ? TONY BUZAN - 2. I am Sahal from Sri Lanka ( sahal.alaci@gmail.com )

  • He has work to show off too the world because he mind maps! He is demonstrating in a relaxed way the results of mind mapping (success) and fun (six degrees of seperation). Try mind mapping the video-

  • This is not teaching how to draw mind map, but to show off your work to the world. gezzz

  • Jim Caviezel

  • I noticed you use multiple words in your mind maps, you're supposedly only supposed to use 1 word.... I also use 2 words sometimes.

  • Thank you SO much for showing me the mind map on your children's story!

I'm new to mind mapping and despite what others have said, I personally found it very helpful.

I really like how you write inside bubbles, something I wouldn't have learned any other way. Your separation of plot, characters, and morals are a GREAT idea, too.

    Thank you again!

  • The map shown by the host is in fact technically a concept diagram, true MM are one word per branch. This is the hardest concept of MM to learn but once learnt it becomes natural and easy to achieve. Colour is really important, but equally images. Unfortunately you have not shown any images which is a shame. Maybe in another video?

  • you seem smart wanna teach an idiot??

  • @Gretchael160806 no one would listen to an idiot, why do you listen to yourself when you call yourself an idiot?

  • Two words mate: Tablet PCs.

  • Nice one Nez I just tried to download a thirty day mind map but it did not work I shall look for your vids for a complete map or else I shall make my own, which was my original plan, I mean I missed this vid early in the thirty days. Thanks to you I changed profile on Twitter to Knoll but then moved to linked in, cheers buddy. Have a nice year.

  • I'd like to see you guys try to "mind-map" Biochemistry.

    What a waste of time.

  • Ok we can do that.

  • I have my son do mind maps of math, chemistry, french, etc, etc. As systemtim correctly pointed out, you CAN mind map biochemistry. I have yet to find any that you cannot effecively mind map.

  • And you look like Serge Tankian

  • I like the sound of mind-mapping; I'm going to have a crack at it! Thanks for making such an informative video. :)

Can You spin six degrees of Stephen Fry?

  • flash cards work X20 faster trust me

  • The problem is that with methods like flash cards, you might be able to get to the point faster where you can repeat the facts you learned. However, long-term retention fails. So, if you are cramming for an exam, flash cards, might be better, but if you are trying to learn to be able to recall it six months later, flash cards are not the way to do it.

  • I really dont think you know what you are talking about. Flash cards if used correctly are a standard and very effective way of learning through recognition. They were used extensively under trial conditions to train pilots and aircrew to recognize aircraft. You need to read Tony Buzan's Speed Reading Book.

  • Well, actually I DO know what I am talking about. The fact that the are used to "train pilots and aircrew to recognize aircraft" does not alter the fact that they are not very good for "long-term retention". (see my post) I read the third editon of "Speed reading" as well as his mind mapping book. I suggest you read "Einstein Never Used Flash Cards: How Our Children Really Learn-- And Why They Need to Play More and Memorize Less".

  • you are incorrect, flash cards are amazing for long term retention which is why they are also used to teach children word recognition. Its call image association and is used in most learning processes. I have read the text you suggest as well as many others and I certainly know what I am talking about. It might not work for you which is fine, it works for the majority of people world wide.

  • Great but there are not drawings

  • Just to let you know, depending on where we learn mind maps from, what you're doing may not be really mind mapping. Well, according to Tony Buzan, you should use only 1 word on each branch. It serves to trigger rather than show just a picture. You might want to try it for a change; my older notes were done in a format similar to yours but since the change, I can make recalls more effectively.

  • I agree: as a Buzan Licensed Instructor and Master Trainer for iMindMap 1 word and images is essential

  • what's the 30 day challenge?

  • awesome, just takes integrirty and honesty to make it last

  • See if you can get a 6-7 person connection to Jackie Chan.

  • Nice video on mind mapping - good quality video.

I use mind mapping all day every day, both on paper and using software. I use an open source package called "freemind". It is free and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Sounds like an add - only its free. ;)

  • Try iMindMap which is not free but its much better and it works across the platforms as well

  • @systemtim

Xmind Is Free and way better

  • thanks for the video. I have used mindmapping in the past and should have been using as I went through the 30dc. I went through it in 14 days, so will go back and do it again, but this time I will mindmap it. then when I do my next hundred sites. I will have a plan for each one.

  • weird, i dont think my mind works that way. i would more likely draw a tree diagram or multiple lines that branch off similar to yours, just not based on a center. and i would have to mix setting with things, i couldn't separate them like that =p. Very interesting though. thanks for the video =)

  • I love mind mapping. I'm an artistic nerd too.

My next door neighbor was an extra in a Kevin Bacon movie. She spent a whole day just feet away from him.

Are you within six degrees of Robert Redford?

  • Please can you show me to mind map please I have bought books but got put off with the intricate drawings I do have colour pens to boot and drawing book and enthusiasm for it but need the special guidence the potential to do this is incredible has I never ever take notes and need something like this please can you Albert......

  • Regarding the 6 degrees of kevin bacon. Does it work with anybody in a movie? If so I say Daniel Johnston (The Devil and Daniel Johnston) If it has to be an actor I´d say Borat, you know what´s-his-name.

  • What a turkey I am nez. I have periodically used mind maps for a whole bunch of stuff and it never crossed my mind to use in the development of a niche market idea and the rest of the process for that matter. Thanks for the reminder. Brad

  • Hi,

Like the idea of mind mapping. I haven't used it myself although I can see how effective it could be. Would be interested in mind maps to do with IM strategies.

By the way, this is my first ever post on Youtube & I have just started the 30 day challenge for this year.

I met Caro recently if you know of her.

My username on the forum is boxy.

    Thanks for the useful info.

    Greg

  • Very cool idea. I don't usually do mind mapping since it doesn't feel natural to me. I've found it just doesn't work.

I do use a piece of paper and a pen for my notes though, but I do listing.

  • shame as you are not really using your whole potential, maybe worth another try or even going on a mind mapping course run by Buzan?
