@shreditman I don't think there's any real confirmation for it, but it's likely that we'll see something like that after release. Supposedly troops float in water and they're "still working on the swimming mechanics", plus you'll still have the various vehicles that can cross water like Magriders.

@Blackowtz Supposedly the game will run on 4-5 year old hardware. They're using an in-house engine built specifically MMOs (basically for this and the next EQ game), which seems to be capable of some pretty impressive things so far.

FYI, at the time of planetside 1 original release, some continents were seeing about 200v200v200 people on 1 area alone. NEVER... compare this to any other game, the epicness warefare of this game is amazing and unlike other games (for anyone who hasnt played part 1) this game is NOT matchs/rounds, its an ongoing battle, no loading fresh maps no restarts... just play

@charlieevoviii Not quite. I don't believe Battlefield has room for a few thousand players on a single map. Besides, PlanetSide was released in 2003 and most of it is based on that game. Note that only Battlefield 1942 existed then. They did take some things from BF3 and CoD, but the core gameplay? Should be nothing like Battlefield. And please don't compare it to dwarf map games.

It really makes players conscious of what needs to be done on the battlefield to move forward in the game. The end result, as seen in planetside 1, is a level of cooperation that has never before been seen in a video game. You really trust that your commanding officers understand what it takes to overtake a battle.

@MrEduardKhil That's the advantage to having three sides. Population imbalances are leveled out by having the two underdogs "teaming up". The same way as DAoC, if you ever played that.

That said, it wasn't a problem in the first game, so I think it'll be alright.
