@qwertyroffle How is being able to compose a song rather than improvising it less of a talent than just doodling around some scales hoping for random good ideas? It's just my guess...but all those improvising guitarists...aren't they just too lazy to actually learn a song note by note?
Don't get me wrong, I highly respect those who are creatively improvising. I just don't like how many people see it as the holy grail of guitar playing, when most of them can't even read music.
@Sitzgelegenheit91 To be honest, live, improvising is so much better than a composed solo. Because you don't go to a gig just to hear something identical to the CD. It's supposed to be a new experience, and if you can improvise well (not just doodle) you can catch the mood of the crowd and cater a solo for them. However on CD I believe composing is the best way, because you have to be pleased with that solo, it's staying, can't change it once you release it, so you have to make it your best.

I like this but it's exactly the same as another video she's in - this is rehersed. Though somehow you could tell this without watching the other video - there's little effort put into this performance at all. She's a great guitarist but it'd be interesting to see her improvise.
@beng1lh00ly Sorry if this sounds rude, but do you know any musician who doesn't rehearse? Even jazz musicians take multiple takes to record a song, changing bits and parts every time they do a retake, but nothing radically different. And perhaps you weren't listening carefully, but the two songs do sound different except at specific points like when she does the octaves. The point is, just because you planned what you want to play doesn't necessarily mean you lack soul or improvisation skills.

But when it comes to copyright infringement, many videos on YouTube don't give credit either. If the Doobie Brothers want credit, it is THEIR song and copyright. They should do it. Ive been playing guitar off and on for 18 years, Ive gotten pretty good at several points in my life from serious dedication. I love how easy she makes it look, I wish she seemed into it a bit more like another video of hers Ive seen, but hey, its a great piece thats hers and she can play it however she wants.... Im going pick up on some of her licks though...nice jammin'.

Good playing.But its all memorize.Playing Funk,Blues,Jazz,its all about how you feel,deep inside.She is more a tape version of the original.Sorry.But thats how I feel.Music is about creativity.Its like writing a book report,you don't plagiarize.

@bighornpt well, she did that for the request of a guitar company. They wanted to shoot their advertisement, so I don't think she necessarily had to look like "passionate", "artistic" and "emotional" player.
