This song is way more effective as an upbeat, indifferent, almost flippant pop-folk song, the way it was done originally. That way the message of the song goes very well, in an ironic way, with the "nothing to be done" aesthetic of the music, and nails home the point of the lyrics.

Hey! You definitely have a point. It got me to wondering why I like Liliana's version though. I think it's corky and can still work in some ways. It made me think about the Truman show how all of the perfectness is so odd and creepy.

MAN, that IS slow. Nice voice. But " The Womenfolk" did a much better version. It's just too slow. And she skipped the last verse also . BUT it is one of the few voices who could do a very good version of The National Anthem at a baseball game with no music. And that's hard to sing.

hm..i don´t like this version too much because it´s way to "jazzy", ´cause the original "Child melody" fits so perfectly, which is sad because your voice also fitd perfectly...if you would sing it in another tone i probably would love it (sorry for my english^^)

careful not misunderstood .... is the Spanish version of Victor Jara (which is what I meant in reality) but the issue is whether the singer / songwriter Malvina reynolds to burn the item for 62 more or less, must be taken into consideration that the counterculture was very Protestant linked to cultural groups underground South America, just remember that proximity had Joan Baez with this part of the world.

This song is the English version of a topic of great singer-songwriter killed in the Chilean military regime of Pinochet Victor Jara, the issue actually is called "Las Casitas del Barrio Alto" is a satire and the polarization in the 70's in chile between rich and poor.
