thanks, homtom2, and the surprising thing is that the parts with the most swing are those where the notes are exactly on the beat rather than syncopated!! - cheers from the uk - martin.
Great job Andy ! Wrote to you years ago about how much I liked Lord of Hopefulness and how it could have been incorporated into Ken Burn's film Civil War, Great job Andy again, Mario From the great city of Philadelphia .
hi mario - nice to hear from you again and glad you like my version of "Corrina" - a happy new year and cheers from the uk to phenomenal philadelphia - martin (the "andy" tag's a long story!).
hi bobby - thanks for your highly favourable comment, and i'm always glad to pass things on - i'm not a fan of 'trade secrets' - good luck with the playing - cheers from the uk to the good old u s of a - martin.
My first time to listen to and you do a great cover I hope play this one and picked up some tips thank you to so much for the uplaoad o me some tips – Th– I really appreciate sharing the knowledge we do not own this work and just pass on to others as you t anks and Good Luck
Hey andy ive commented to this video 2 years ago and im still deeply impressed :)
I've recorded a version with my sister (was just fun - we were sitting outside and just had recorded stuff). I would like to send it to you just to hear your oppinion :)
thanks for that, thomas - so, here's how i play the solo with string number/ fret number and the changes of chords in brackets. Sgring 6 is tuned to D. -
this time i'll give the string number followed by the notes on that string (and see if that works!) - oh and i'll put the chord changes in capital letters : (D) string 2/ f# str 1/ a a str 2/ f# str 3/d (G) str1/ b b b (A) str 1/a (G) str 1/g (D) str/f#
part six - (A) a a a g a - c# c# (G) b b b (A) a (G) g -then just the chords : D G D G D A D - and that's it !!! sorry about the disconnected replies but for some reason it would only send fragments! - cheers from the uk - martin.
well, i've heard both of these a bit,and i'm guessing that sounding like a mix of these must be a good thing -so, thanks - cheers from the uk - martin,
when i was a busker abroad i often met up with don partridge, if that's who you mean, and he came to our place once and fell into the river - a really fun guy, and he wrote some great songs - cheers martin -(the tag "andypandywright" is a long story!).
that's good of you to say - and, in fact, i think i got a lot of the sound i have from busking in the streets of germany - mainly munich, nurnberg and augsburg ( but sometimes up in the north in the hamburg direction) - cheers from the uk to great germany - martin.
i'm really glad that you like my playing of corrina, barbara, and looking at your page i can see that you like so many things the same as me - and i thought "catcher in the rye" was great, and often hilarious- greetings to you in wonderful lisbon - martin x
thanks for the great comment on my version of this great song - cheers from the uk to good old deutschland (where i spent many wonderful days playing guitar and singing in the streets and in the clubs) - martin.
yes, here's a few pointers - first it's played with the 6th string (E) downtuned to a bass D, so now the basic chords are D (as normal but with a nicer bass) G, either miss string 6 out or fret string 6 on 5th fret, and A (as normal). Also by using a grip A (string5-fret7, string 4-fret 7, string 3-fret 6, string 2-fret 5 and string 1-fret 5) - you can slide this shape down 2 frets to get the G. Also the higher G is played with string 1-fret 7 and string 6-fret 5 (others open). - cheers martin.
quite a compliment to compare my version with the man himself! (that original also has the subdued but brilliant group led by bruce langhorne's wonderful lead guitar). i'm from nottinghamshire in the uk - though quite often elsewhere - cheers, martin.
great! got a nice swing to it! Cheers from the Netherlands!
