@babymakemesmile1 if your hair us naturally black you can do this to your untouched roots, but don't go from black dyed hair to brown using this because it won't work.
@Justinbieberluver248 dye it with blonde dye itll turn it orangey but whatever, then dye it brown, it might need to be died a darker shade of brown than you want though, (ive done this lol)
So my hair is really black. And i have never dyed it and im thinking about dying it a kinda dark brown! So i should use a blonde dye instead of a brown?
is this the same if you need to touch up your roots (and you have asian hair dyed w blonde hair dye) but you have a box of blonde that is a differenet shade? Like since i wanted to darken my hair a bit???
or you can buy an actual PROFESSIONAL product instead of these metallic dyes (box color) .. a HIGH LIFT color (level 12) with 40 vol developer does the same thing [1 part color to 2 parts developer]], only its healthier for your hair because theres no metallic dyes in professional hair COLOR ;)
You shouldnt pull your hair tight before putting a chemical like this on your hair. If you stimulate your scalp too much you could end up getting burns or irritation.
It should be noted that ColorSilk is a semi-permanent color with no ammonia... if you use a permanent blonde color or one with a stronger bleaching agent the result will be different. That's actually the color I use on my natural blonde hair to lighten just a little.
@2nd2lastgoodbye It's too keep the dye from drying when using the blowdryer on the hair. It also helps to keep it insulated so that the chemicals can process better.
Great tip. Thanks. I've been trying to figure out how to evenly retouch my hair color. The only difference is I use "KAO - Prettia" a foam hair dye which is a little tricky when it comes to touching up. I'll have to try the technique in a few weeks.
On most hair dye packages there's pictures that tell you how the outcome will be. Blonde dyes DO work on darker hair,it's just that you will most likely end up with orange-ish hair after dying it once. Several dying-jobs(is that even a word?lol) will of course lighten it further.
i have a question. my hair is reddish light brown. if i use a blonde hair dye instead of bleach can it lighten a streak in my hair? like really light?
@cbshinystuff101 I have tried this before and it doesn't work.. it only took to my roots and i couldnt get an even color for a few months. In order to get a really light color of hair you have to strip it and bleach it. I have done this and it drys out your hair pretty dramtically depending on your hair type, but if you want to do it then you just need to take extra care of your hair and deep condition it accordingly to your hairtype...and you need a good shampoo and conditioner :)

@KimmieChannel they using color oops it washed out dark brown fom my month old dry job.. (BACK TO BLOND!!) alsoo buy 2 boxes cuz one didnt do as much as i would have liked
@KimmieChannel If your using box color thats why, It happens because of the developers that come with those are too strong and the ingredients that come in them, as well as your natural pigments. The best thing to do is to NOT use box color, in fact its the worst thing you can do. Of course its "easier" and cheaper, but I would 100% suggest you go to a salon.
if i were to dye my hair with blonde hair dye with my black hair.. how would you recomend me to do the process? like dye the ends of my hair first and then my roots or vice versa?
Wow no wonder whenever I try to dye my hair brown it's always dark! I would have never thought blonde hair dye would do the trick! lol I do usually pick a lighter brown when I dye my hair
I just wanna ask you a question. I tried dying my hair darker, with an reddish brown. And my hair is light brown, almost blond, and very fine. But when i tried to color it, the color just kept washing out!.
And no, it wasn't color, that was supposed to wash out. Now my hair is just.. my normal hair with an ugly tint of reddish brown D:
What could be the cause of this? My sister used the same brand, though a darker color, and hers stays in fine.. D:
@Krullemadull Hair type maybe? I tried using manic panic (purple) on my already golden blonde hair, and it didn't stick, it got all blotchy and gross. Think moldy grape jelly. ACROSS MY WHOLE HEAD! I think you should first look into getting the tint off. Don't buy color oops, that may remove dye but it turns your hair a bit brassy (or so they say). I used an ion rinse for rust, a few bucks at sallys. Its in a small purple packet. And dish soap works to strip the color, just condition well after.
@Krullemadull your issue is the RED! Red is very hard to get to stay. You might have also shampooed your hair too quickly. You should wat 24 hours after dying hair before shampooing. Regardless. If you want to dye your hair any RED coloring you need to get two boxes and repeat the dye process about a week later for it to last. Otherwise it will just wash out.
@Krullemadull I agree with some of the comments. Red is the hardest color to keep its richness so if you chose red brown thats why, regardless if its majority brown. Yet you'll still have a reddish tinge to your hair, it will just be dull. If you used box color its possibly why its not lasting, as well as shampoo/conditioner your using. To have beautiful COLORED hair you should go to a salon and with that to keep it up buy good products to maintain your look.
what would happen if you used dye on dyed/bleached hair? and also, is there a way to 'un'-dye hair? not dye it over with your original colour, but get rid of it, without waiting till your hair grows out, which would take awhile xD
@kaathrynnx3 if you just dyed your hair and didn't like the color, wash your hair using baking soda bfore the dye sets (within the first 24 hours of dying) This should remove a lot of the color. If you've had the dye for a while then there is a harsh chemical product on the market at like Sally's that will remove hair dye. Usually only used by people who have dyed their hair black and are comfortable enough to do it themselves.
@kaathrynnx3 The safest way to remove color from hair is to seek a professional hair colorist. Sometimes hair has to be stripped or you need a soap cap to remove it. I had been dying my hair black with a box for about a year when I decided for a change and had to go to a professional. She did 2 soap caps with no results so my only option was to cut off all of my damaged hair and grow it out again.
you look so adorable here, how did you do your makeup in this vid? i understand you don't want to do a vid. about it, but could you type down the brand and how to achieve the look???? sorry if this is asking too much.
I have naturally dark red/brown hair and whenever I want to lighten it to a more strawberry blond color I grab the lightest Blond box and put it on works like a charm every time.
sorry if this is annoying! but i just have to make sure:
by virgin black hair, you mean thats never been bleached (asian black hair)
and if you wanted to dye your hair brown, (not touch up anything) run the dye in your hair with a brush or comb evenly and then plastic bag it? (with blonde hair dye)
lol. virgin black hair. hehe!

what would happen if you used dye on dyed/bleached hair? and also, is there a way to 'un'-dye hair? not dye it over with your original colour, but get rid of it, without waiting till your hair grows out, which would take awhile xD
