  • They call me The MAD Traditionalist but high kudos to the composer of this arrangement and to the choir, director, and accompanist for a spirited and entertaining performance. It was the umpteenth performance I tried on YouTube and bests all of them!

  • Do you have to audition for this choir? I auditioned for the TMEA All-State Choir and made it to the final round but didn't make the choir. It was incredibly difficult but this seems a bit easier to make.

  • How lovely! Don't listen to the negative comments. Well done!

  • Quite a different arrangement than I did with my group. Still, I enjoyed this arrangement too. Nice job!

  • I enjoyed this arrangement, not something I would want to hear during a Mass, however. I am a fan of the Big choir, Big pipe organ, Old cathedral environment that I have experienced growing up Catholic, but it is nice to get away from the original transcriptions, in my opinion.

  • This is just a vanity on the part of a mediocre music director, afraid he can't do justice to the historical arrangements.

  • @Lydia637 first off, this wasn't written or arranged by the director, it's a published and widely used piece.

second, this director was anything but mediocre!! he only had a WEEK to make children, ages 14-18, from all over Texas sound like this.

finally, this song is about praising our Lord, so if all you're going to do is tear down, please leave!

  • um not a good arr.

  • there's actually sweet orchestra transcription of the piano part. Florida Baptist all-state has used it a couple times.

  • huh??

  • Martin Luther would roll over in his grave! Sing it the way it is in the Baptist Hymnal, with a pipe organ accompaniment.

  • I guess it's too bad Martin Luther isn't here then.

  • yeah i agree, too bad he isnt here. there's more than one way to sing and perform a song. way more than one

  • He probably is. What I hate that the Baptists do is "Praise GOD from Whom All Blessings Flow"!

We don't sing the original Old 100th, we sing some dumb altered rhythm!

  • @jensmom604 are you kidding me? i think he'd be jumping for joy that his music has transcended time like this.

also, we actually sang this at the church where Martin Luther was buried and i didn't hear any rolling, so i think we're good.

  • @jensmom604

Yeah cause Luther composed it with a pipe organ
