@roadragecustoms o ok i was just wondering cause that trans fluid looked really dirty and dark.... wat is your advice for changing the atf?? i have the same exact truck same powertrain as well and i have 83k on my trans. and dont know wen the atf was changed cause i just bought it... thanks!!!
@fatbradlehs Yes, it was pretty dark. I made this video while I was trying to diagnose a shifting problem. I didn't want to risk the extra expense of fluid & filter if it wasn't going to fix the problem. I just wanted to get it full, fix the water in the connector problem, & see if it would shift right. It did. I'd recommend changing your fluid if it was shifting good.
My scan tool is generic and not able to measure temp. I do, however, have a laser temp gauge. Can I just aim the gauge at the bottom of the pan, and wait until the pan is in approx the right temp range and then measure fluid level?
Yup they can be a pain for the DIY. But that is what it is these days. Truely it is a sealed system and if there are no leaks then technically there should be no fluid loss. But it makes servicing the trans alot of fun for sure! hah
Nice video, thank you! Why would Ford install a transmission like that, and make it so messy to maintain? And that A/C drip issue should have a Ford Engineer strung up for overlooking that trainwreck!
@TheTexasCoder Ford isn't the only one. Chrysler sells the dipstick separate on many of their vehicles. They don't want you to drive around with it in the dipstick tube either. GM has similar ignorant transmissions too.
@460fordtruckman I think Chevy has a few different versions. The FWD cars have a fill plug on the top and a full level plug near the pass side output shaft. You fill them until they leak out the full level plug.
@roadragecustoms ok ill have to look into that ive got a 06 mailbu with the 2.2 and never thot to look for a dipstick when i first got it lol then not to long ago went to change the oil and im like wtf no dipsick lol
great video. thank you.
