When we have nothing else....music....recalls such sweet heart-felt moments of innocence, just plain good feelings about your mate at the time......just broke up with one of my firstloves, at 19, many more were in the future....and each can be reached in just a second or so of hearing the relevant song.....thank you Carol sue for this one....Butch...
Bobby Hatfield covered this song on his "Blue Eyed Soul" album. He did a really good job on it. But not as good as this . R.I.P. Ed you left us with a great song.
OMG - you just cannot beat this original. This really touches me deep, deep within my heart and do I ever have chills! God, this is such a special love song. It is one of the love songs that reached the zenith of love songs. That music and the background chorus - what a fabulous song. This is almost so beautiful I could just cry. Thank you more than I can express for this perfect love song.
Heavens to Murgatroid! I've always loved this song. It never fails to touch my heart. Never knew much about Mr Townsend before now. THANKS not only for posting this delightful "blast from the past" but also for the illuminating mini-bio! And those images that go along with the song are QUITE beautiful too! KUDOS on a job well done! You have MADE my day & my weekend!!! CHEERS! :-)
I remember an Ed Townsend rather I saw an Ed Townsend in Philadelphis back in late fifties. As I remember5 being in the audience and he was a white man and sang or seemed to sing For your love and was coaxed to sing the flip side of the record and the whole audience bood him very badly, but the match wasn't so bad
MR. ED TOWNSEND was introduced to me by GENE "Poo Poo" Anderson and he co-wrote Let's Get it On with MARVIN GAYE, he was a fine Mentor to me and helped me throug a difficult time in my life! We talked a few days before his Death and I will Cherish him Forever!

@anndandridge yes Ann, it was one of the greatest artists I have ever had the honor of performing and recording with! It was great to get to know you and the rest of his extended family through the performances of Rehabilitation: Been There! Done That! over the last four of five years of his prolific life. Nocaro, thanks, I have posted four videos from the musical he wrote after his recovery from a arduous battle with drug and alcohol abuse. Inspiring! More love!
I'm posting music from my High School years 1956-1960 Great music then ,still great
