Good riddance. One of the least knowledgeable media types around. Always got the feeling he didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about, no matter what sport he was ranting and raving about. Spent most of the time just reciting numbers , which he was usually reading from stat sheets. The guy can be replaced with a chimp.
Right-On Shipreraider. Whether you liked them or not, those two brought about a new concept in sports radio that has now been imitated throughout the country. Were Francesa & Russo controversial? Hell Yes. Did they rub listeners the wrong way? At times, yes: They did. But they were hard to ignore. They made you enter into the conversation sometimes whether or not you wanted to. And Yeah: These guys knew their sports. you have to if you're going to be doing radio in NYC. They'll be missed.
wow,, I was in Cooperstown for the last 3 days, and wasnt up on the news in the sports world, i get home today and read about this. It is sad, I am 20 and watched/listened to them for 5+ years, during those rainy days, or cold winters, they were always on and I really loved the show, I am glad that I had the chance to meet them twice.
ive listened to mike and dog since i was about 14, now im 28. they invented sports radio and changed talk radio in general. they will both be ok.

Can you post the part where Mad Dog calls in?
Or the part where Mad Dog's dad Tony calls in?
Very emotional parts.
