What part of this is hard to understand? Hitchens attacked Mormons, which is expected from this atheist, but then Sharpton attacked them as well, which is NOT ACCEPTABLE from a Christian. This is the reason for the criticism. Don't rationalize it away... Al eventually took responsibility for this, met with LDS leaders, and apologized by saying his preconceptions were wrong. Like many people, Sharpton simply didn't know much about Mormons and he said the wrong thing. However, he apologized and took steps to show he was sincerely sorry. It's time to move on.

I believe that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are 3 seperate beings all together making up the Godhead. the Holy Ghost is the member of God that dwells in each of us. i wont tell you that you are wrong, just that we believe differently on this subject.

in my opinion, prayer IS talking to God. I address Him, thank Him, ask for help with things that I am in need of, and things that I have no control over. I pray for others. To me, I am talking to God and He is listening. we all have a direct connection to God, not face to face like a prophet or anything, but we can communicate with Him. i believe He may speak into the heart and soul of each and every individual through the Holy Ghost.

susie, dont be sorry that i feel it is necessary to talk to God. Jesus talked to God the Father all the time. If He felt that it was necessary, then I believe it is even more necessary for me. Of course, I believe that the Holy Ghost may dwell within us, however, that does not mean that prayer is not necessary. Prayer is one way i keep my relationship with Him intact.

Seriously, The Persident of the church does'nt make a decision by vote or pressure from people. He discusses the problem with the Twelve Apostles and they pray and fast to determine the will of the Lord. Only then does the President (in this case, Heber C kimball)make a decision. The church does not take these things lightly.

LDS are not and have never been race prejudice The bible mentions a curse put on Cain and later on the sons of Ham. No Pastor or Pope or any other religious leader I know of was ever given the right to remove that curse until Apostle and Prophet Heber C Kimble declared by devine inspiration that all male members no matter the race or color could hold the Priesthood. Blacks could always be baptised into the church but they couldn't hold the Priesthood until that ban was lifted by the Lord.

Evangelical Christians will never vote for Romney! You have to believe in god the same way they do and Mormons DO NOT PERIOD! They may say they are christians, but they have VERY distinct differences in how they believe. Above and beyond the way the VAST majority of christians do. That's fine with me. They can believe in whatever they want, but they will not get the backing of the major christian groups that are in control of the Republican party today. That is what Al Sharpton was saying.
