I have GT3: A-spec for PS2 as well and it's still such a great game. It's also one of my favorite video games ever and it's one of my most favorite Gran Turismo games from the series as well as one of my most favorite PS2 games that I still have for PS2. It's so awesome. This game works on my old PS3 console since my old PS3 console has backwards compatibility with PS2 games. It wouldn't work, however, on my new PS3 console because my new PS3 can't play PS2 games. It can only play PS1 and PS3.
The PS3 is the best. Just this past June though, I had to end up getting a whole new PS3 console again just to play all of my PS3 games again. Unfortunately, the Blu-ray drive on my 80 GB PS3 burned out and now I can't play my PS3 games anymore now on it. That really stinks. I do like my new PS3 though. The new PS3 that I got was the 160 GB PS3 slim console and it's so awesome. My new PS3 also features backwards compatibility, but only with PS1 games. That stinks that it can't play PS2 games.
The only thing these models are good for are the ylod, which then leads to blu ray drive problems when you fix them, which then lead to me flinging mine out the fuckin window!!! Do not buy one of these piece of shit machines!!! You should be paid to take one and then you can shit on it!!!
Backwards compatibility rocks! In the near future, I hope they'll get to include full backwards compatibility with the next new next-gen systems. That would be so awesome if they ever did that. It would also be really great if Sony would've ever included full PS2 backwards compatibility back onto the PS3 again and if Microsoft ever made all Xbox games instead of just some games playable on the 360. Also, I think Nintendo should've allowed the 3DS to play GBA games too just in my own opinion.
Backwards compatibility is so awesome and most of my current game systems that I have features such wonderful backwards compatibility too. It's not all that bad either. In the near future, I think this is how the backwards compatibility should seem like for the new next-gen systems to make it more better:
PS4: Plays most or all PS1, PS2, and PS3 games
PSP2: Plays all or most PSP games

The PS3 is so awesome even though sometimes some people may have problems with the backwards compatibility features on it and things like that. I have the old 80 GB PS3 and it's so awesome. Most of my games for both PS1 and PS2 are even backwards compatible on it already and I have a lot of cool games now so far for my PS3 such as MGS4, GTA IV, and GT5: Prologue. The PS3 rocks! So far for PS3, my most favorite games for it would have to be MGS4, GTA IV, and GT5: Prologue.

i have crash bandicoot twinsanity 4 ps2 and it wont play on my ps3 80 gb! It makes it past the developers names and it loads the menu but freezes right before the menu comes on! I bought it a week ago.

Weird problem you got there, I've seen PS3 compatibility list where some games have "freeze" on the list. I hope they'll fix more games with a future firmware update :)
Yeah. I hope so too. If some of my PS1 and PS2 don't work right on my PS3, then I'll just have to play them all on my other previous PlayStation systems. Most of the PS1 and PS2 games that I've tried out so far though do work on my PS3. So I don't have any problems with those games. They also have a PS3 backwards compatibility status thing at the PlayStation website if you go to Support and everything under PS3.
The 40 GB PS3 is backwards compatible with PS1 games, but not with PS2 games. PS2 games won't work on the 40 GB PS3. They will work, however, on the 20, 60, and 80 GB consoles and I know that PS1 games will work on all PS3 models. That was why I didn't want to get the 40 GB PS3 because it wasn't backwards compatible with PS2 games. I wanted a PS3 that would play both PS1 and PS2. So I decided to get the 80 GB PS3 instead and it came with a free MotorStorm game too. Right now, I have 80 GB.

The PS3 is an overcomplicated, underdeveloped system that has far too few notable EXCLUSIVE games and with Sony stripping away features as time passes it will die a slow and painful death.
The Xbox 360 is overcrowded by mediocre FPSs, all of the other decent games can easily be found on the PS3 and PC, Oh and let's not forget the failure rate.
I own a Wii and a PS3; I find myself playing games on my PS2 Slim (Because my 80GB PS3 APPARENTLY doesn't have BC) over 4 times as much than my PS3, and the Wii, I haven't even touched it in months.
When it comes to newer games I just get them on PC so I can have things like mods and (IMHO) better controls
You will only be able to play those games that the 360 has for as long as you have your warrenty. You're gonna be screwed when your 360 overheats and your warrenty is out. Microsoft will probably drop out of the hardware business because they haven't made a dime from it. When that time comes, you will be stuck with a broken 360 while I'll still be playing my ps3. People have a lot of problems with their PS3s it seems, I must be lucky, mine seems fine. Atleast every PS2 and PS1 game I have which is over 5 dozen work fine. I was glad that my games all works and half my brothers XBox games didn't work on his 360 because he doesn't have XBox live to update it. Great people scream problems with PS3s when the 360 had so many darn problems with older games as well.

The PS3 has a chip especialy to run PS1 and PS2 software through. This was taken out of the Europian versions to save on costs and replaced with software to decode the PS2 games. This is why the PS3 should be fully compatable. Its not just a program, there is actualy part of the PS2 inside the PS3 system. The only problem is PS2 games were never made for high vision but I`m sure sony will work this one over with new software for download.
I was actually meaning "The GBA" and it's backwards compatibility with GBC and GB games, while of course playing GBA games. Regardless GBA was backwards compatible with two previous systems long before the PS3 was in development. If you want to refine your claim to say first home console, then fair enough.
Additionally the PS3 isn't fully backwards compatible, there are issues to iron out...
Yeah thats about it. Don`t really need a 60GB drive to save all my 100kb saved games on or slots for flash memory when it can be uploaded from USB any way. Best to keep my $100 for some thing more importaint thank you very much.

that's the thing with the new systems in order to enjoy them you have to buy a new TV. So its like a $2000 venture just to play a few good games. No thanks i am staying with PC for now, all cross-platform games games look way better on pc anyways

I bought my PS3 for $400, and a monitor with HDMI for another $180. I'd like to see a computer setup at a comparable price that is running any modern games at the similar quality.
It is no secret that the PS3 has the best price to performance ratio available.

Yeah you wont be able to buy a comp that costs 600 bucks that can run lets say fall out 3 but you can really compare a pc to a PS3 because PCs can do high quality antialising/ 16X antisotropic and texture qulities that sony wont make available till their next machine. I have an 80 GB PS3 and it is awesome and everything, but there was one problem that I had earlier. I need a little help in case anyone knows. I have a PS1 game called "NCAA Final Four 2001". It is backwards compatible on my PS2, but when I tried it out on my PS3, for some reason there is a loading screen that comes up and then the title hangs. There was supposed to be a red bar at the bottom loading up, but it didn't load up. Does anyone know how to fix that problem? I'm only wondering.

By the way, I have another question if you might know. Have you ever heard of certain screens on games that "hang"? If so, what does that mean and is there a way to fix it? To me, I think the screen just sits there and doesn't move at all when that happens.

Weird problem you got there, I've seen PS3 compatibility list where some games have "freeze" on the list. I hope they'll fix more games with a future firmware update :)

Yeah. I hope so too. If some of my PS1 and PS2 don't work right on my PS3, then I'll just have to play them all on my other previous PlayStation systems. Most of the PS1 and PS2 games that I've tried out so far though do work on my PS3. So I don't have any problems with those games. They also have a PS3 backwards compatibility status thing at the PlayStation website if you go to Support and everything under PS3.

The 40 GB PS3 is backwards compatible with PS1 games, but not with PS2 games. PS2 games won't work on the 40 GB PS3. They will work, however, on the 20, 60, and 80 GB consoles and I know that PS1 games will work on all PS3 models. That was why I didn't want to get the 40 GB PS3 because it wasn't backwards compatible with PS2 games. I wanted a PS3 that would play both PS1 and PS2. So I decided to get the 80 GB PS3 instead and it came with a free MotorStorm game too. Right now, I have 80 GB.

Well okay then. I have GTA: San Andreas also and it works on my PS3 too, but the PS3 that I have is the 80 GB console. It still works however. All the PS1 and PS2 games that I have tried out so far do work on my PS3 and I would like to try out all my other ones too to see if they will work.

The PS3 is an overcomplicated, underdeveloped system that has far too few notable EXCLUSIVE games and with Sony stripping away features as time passes it will die a slow and painful death.
The Xbox 360 is overcrowded by mediocre FPSs, all of the other decent games can easily be found on the PS3 and PC, Oh and let's not forget the failure rate.
The Wii... need I explain what's wrong with it?

I own a Wii and a PS3; I find myself playing games on my PS2 Slim (Because my 80GB PS3 APPARENTLY doesn't have BC) over 4 times as much than my PS3, and the Wii, I haven't even touched it in months.
When it comes to newer games I just get them on PC so I can have things like mods and (IMHO) better controls

You will only be able to play those games that the 360 has for as long as you have your warrenty. You're gonna be screwed when your 360 overheats and your warrenty is out. Microsoft will probably drop out of the hardware business because they haven't made a dime from it. When that time comes, you will be stuck with a broken 360 while I'll still be playing my ps3. People have a lot of problems with their PS3s it seems, I must be lucky, mine seems fine. Atleast every PS2 and PS1 game I have which is over 5 dozen work fine. I was glad that my games all works and half my brothers XBox games didn't work on his 360 because he doesn't have XBox live to update it. Great people scream problems with PS3s when the 360 had so many darn problems with older games as well.

The PS3 has a chip especialy to run PS1 and PS2 software through. This was taken out of the Europian versions to save on costs and replaced with software to decode the PS2 games. This is why the PS3 should be fully compatable. Its not just a program, there is actualy part of the PS2 inside the PS3 system. The only problem is PS2 games were never made for high vision but I`m sure sony will work this one over with new software for download.

I was actually meaning "The GBA" and it's backwards compatibility with GBC and GB games, while of course playing GBA games. Regardless GBA was backwards compatible with two previous systems long before the PS3 was in development. If you want to refine your claim to say first home console, then fair enough.
Additionally the PS3 isn't fully backwards compatible, there are issues to iron out...
