We loved Chucks Convenience Store as kids. Chuck was the most generous store owner ever! He gave and gave and gave to everyone. Until one night some punk last named Quirion or similar killed him! I think the punk used a soup can and Chuck was attacked in his own basement. He sold my family a $500 winning lottery ticket and done a lot, he cared about everyone!
This was a store as kids we always went to! We bought from him and the other business partner. They had many different flavored of ice cream with large scoops. The Chinese penny gum was a favorite with the inserts. They would read things such as, "he who laughs last laughs best!" lol
I just tried a bottle today....I liked it....you know that Fleer bubble gum you used to get at Halloween, that tasted like Pepto Bismol ? Well, that's what Movie tastes like to me...like
HEY FRANK :)) I SURE MISS YOU...LEFT MAINE IN 1974 WHEN I JOINED THE AIR FORCE BUT REMEMBER STOPPING IN KENNEBEC FRUIT ON THE CORNER FOR THE BEST HOME MADE ROOT BEER TO BRING HOME AND ALSO SITTING AT THE COUNTER FOR A ROOT BEER FLOAT THAT IS OUTTA THIS WORLD. I WASN'T EVEN SURE THIS STORE WAS STILL THERE ON THE CORNER SINCE IT'S BEEN OVER 35 YEARS THE LAST TIME I STEPPED FOOT IN THERE..WOW..I'M ALL SMILES NOW... JUST HAD A FRIEND BRING ME A CASE OF MOXIE HERE IN TENNESSEE. THE ONLY SODA I DRINK
I grew up in Lisbon, and I've been drinking Moxie since I was a child. Frank is one of the nicest guys I know. :) I remember going to his store to get penny candy, like Swedish fish or sour patch kids.
I stopped in Lisbon Falls and saw this guy last week! Bought some souvenirs at his shop, then bought two 12-packs of Moxie at Wal-Mart to bring home. Wish I could have fit more in my suitcases, haha!
MOXIE IS AWESOME!!! I used to drink it as a little kid, my pop pop loved it. And when i was up in maine this past summer I found it and I shoulda brought a lot more home with me!!!!
It's amazing that even though Moxie wasn't made in Lisbon, because strangely everyone loved it (very uncommon) they all joined to have Moxie Fest. I love Moxie.
@inkey2 lol, it's sold in almost every store in Lisbon and in surrounding towns. Can't go anywhere without seeing it. So yes, it is still made. Unless someone has a stash somewhere, and we Lisbonites are reaping the benefits! ;-)
his name is frank anicetti, and I have known him since I was a little girl, he used to call me young fella and I would get sooo mad. I still go to see him in lisbon falls ME every year, when I go to maine for vacation!
Good old Frank Anicetti, (spelling ??) man I miss that place. I still love Moxie, hunt for it here in NC. Good thing my fam in LF sends it. I have my two shirts in the closet.
I'm with you Jeninmaine. I just wish he had actual store hours. My mother in law is looking for a shirt and I can never seem to get there when he's there.
Frank is one kooky guy. I wish he'd renovate his shop and start using it for more than Moxie memorabilia storage, there's that beautiful preserved soda fountain there.
I used to live in Topsham and travel to Lisbon Falls on my way to Lewiston. I couldn't go by the Kennebec Fruit Co with out stopping. Moxie icecream was the best. I think my grandparents had me try Moxie soda, and I thought is tasted like cough syrup, but I was a weird kid and loved strange tasting things. Ayah, Frank is a wicked cool guy to talk to.
Moxie takes ..well - a lotta moxie to like it , if ya catch my drift - some strongsass stuff. and this guy Frank's store in Lisbon - the dust alone in it would put the fear of God in you - so get the Moxie - before you drink it.
Moxie is my favorite soda. I remember as a child, I thought it was gross, but really, if you drink it a few more times, it's great. I can attest to that.
On my trip to go rafting in Maine, we stopped at a gas station and I saw moxie and remembered hearing about it on the food network, I decided to buy some. I drank the whole thing, it was the worst soda ever... Then our rafting guide told us that Moxie waste better with milk, so I tried that and it was twice as bad. I think its a conspiracy between the Moxie people and the milk producers in order to sell twice the amount of each to tourists.
Ahh, Frank and his famous frozen fruited flavors. I grew up in Topsham and we used to drive up to Lisbon every once in a while to go to his store. Man, did I miss Moxie when I lived out west! Glad I'm back!
Does anyone know any stores that would send moxie to nevada? All my relatives used to live in Gardiner, they used to send some or bring it. havent had any for 10 years now!
aww Frank is awesome! i lived in Lisbon Falls for about 10 years, always come back for school vacations. i remember going down there to get ice cream and penny candy. every time me and my sis would walk in the door he would greet us as "sir" and we would reply with "ma'am" it was a little joke we had. but all that time in lisbon i still dont like Moxie... but i love the festivals!! and they are just around the corner!! yay
This wasn't taken at Moxie Falls, the white water rafting place, was it? I don't remember what town it was in, but the shirts behind the counter look a lot like the shirts they sell in the gift store.
Thats Frank Aniccetti (spelled wrong) his Dad owned the store and he took it over after he passed away. I grew up in Lisbon Falls and remember walking down to the store to get penny candy. I've been away 12 years now and I still love Moxie...it's in the blood.
I grew up going to 'The Moxie Store' (Otherwise properly named Kennebec's Fruit Company) As a little girl I went and bought penny candy.
He used to call me and my friends "Young men" or "Little Boys" to tease us. Now when I go back to visit my mom in Lisbon Falls I take my sons in there to buy penny candy and just like old times, he calls them "little girls" Bait which my son always falls for.
Wonderful Wonderful man, and Moxie nor the Town of Lisbon would be the same without him.
I was in Maine this summer for vacation and had Moxie for the first time... All I can say is that "it is WICKED GOOD" I wish we had moxie down here in jersey. :(
wow, maybe read the other comments next time before posting. For someone visiting, it'd be easy to foget which town you were in. I know Frank certainly doesn't mind.
Hi, this guy is my uncle!! Sweet. His name is Frank Anicetti Jr. and you filmed him at Kennebec's Fruit Company in lisbon falls. I definitely wasn't expecting to find him on youtube....
Awesome! He was the nicest man ever! I just filmed him with my little digital camera then tried a Moxie for the first time. :) The day after Thanksgiving I think. Thanks, alli518!
@alli518 Started going there 29 years ago when my parents moved to LF... heck I used to deliver the paper to Frank and his dad ~ 25 years ago... live in CA now but I'll always remember. :)
