I don't know about anyone else, but the gospel music back the 70s and 80s to the mid 90s was the best era of Gospel music in my opinion. So much soul.
What I've always appreciated about the Hawkins Family is the level of sophistication they brought to Gospel Music. They were able to cross over to mainstream without watering down the message, necessarily, and showing the 'secular' world -- if you will -- that Gospel music could, in fact, be sophisticated yet heartfelt and meaningful.

I can't believe I am crying. This song is so true today for so many including myself. Despite all of the issues going on right now in america we still have so much to be grateful for.

I've been around the HAWKINS Family since High School. My mother was a Gospel Singer and the Hawkins used 2 come 2 our church at least once a year. Tremaine Hawkins and her son Jamie were our Vocal Coaches 4 MC Hammer 'To Legit Tour'. I was a Background Singer/Choreographer. Walter Hawkins well was my daughter April Weeden-Washingon's Pastor. WOW i found this classic Walter Hawkins song that spoke to my spirit! Walter Hawkins and his music as been in my life since I can remember! The Hawkins family concert... my first concert ever! The Hawkins family music... the first Gospel songs I learned to sing and still singing!
