I want a DD, because I love their anime looks (although the idea of resin appeals to me more than vinyl, but that's not as important). Thing is, Volks have introduced a new model called a DD Sister, which is slightly shorter (8cm), and has far better pose-ability particularly in the elbow and thigh joints. I don't like the idea of spending so much on a Doll, with the knowledge that an improved one is round the corner, but a year wait for the base body is a long time!
Don't forget that you can also change the hands, feet, arms, and so forth with SDs. As for colors, they offer many more: white, yellow, pink, grey, black, and blue. SDs win for me. ;)
@3DOBot This video wasn't about resin dolls, it was about Dollfie Dreams. I was trying to explain how great they can be to people who've never gotten to play with one before. Have you ever?
@3DOBot That is incorrect, DDs are very rarely more than SDs. The only time they cost more is when they're being sold for more on the secondary market OR when they're special limited edition.
@3DOBot ...most of my videos are about resin Super Dollfies. Maybe you should have checked a few more about before making false assumptions. ^_______^ I currently own NO DDs and quite a few resin dolls.
@Alysonsfriend I know, and no, I'm currently the only hobbiest I know, but a friend of mine is planning on getting one as well as joining the hobby. I only own one doll so far, but will be recieving another very shortly.
@3DOBot Maybe you should try out a few more dolls before you make up your mind completely. It isn't fair to the dolls for you to write them off like that.
@Alysonsfriend Purchasing one would mean me spending a lot of money on a particular style I'm not in to. I will however buy from other resin companies if they carry any that I'm interested in. I have an HZ and an AOD on its way.
I don't understand the craze with Dollfie Dreams. I mean, yeah, they might be more manageable, but the SDs have far more quality and detail. I see the SDs as art and the DDs more as toys.
@3DOBot Comparing DDs and SDs as you are is silly. They both have very positive qualities that are very different. And to say one is more art over the other is closed minded. I've seen Dollfie Dreams way nicer than some BJDs. BUT you are entitled to your opinion, I respect that much.
Hey this is great! Thank you for making this, I am extremely interested in buying myself a DD, more than likely a DDdy actually, and I assume the DD and DDdy are similar. The dolls are much more bigger than I had thought! I wanted to see one in "real life" in comparison to a human. So I found your video! ^^ Thank you again for making this video, it was very informative, well done and helped me out as far as making a decision!
@Alysonsfriend But isn't that what you were doing? Comparing the two? I just found it a bit unfair that you only gave the SDs a few second intro. The video is titled SDs vs Super Dollfies, so yeah, kind of a contradiction especially when you say "comparison" in the very beginning. A better word would have been "difference," but that's just me. I looked on Ebay, and can't find a fullset under 600. Also, a few hobbiests have stated that the DDs are too expensive...so...
I'm hoping to get a dollfie dream, and i'm wondering weather it's a better idea-in the sense of money saving- to buy all the parts seperately, or buy one already made?
wow,i'd much rather prefer a dollfie dream they sound much better and i thought so.. good thing im an anime lover!!!! i see several SDOLLFIES on you.tube and they are cute but they dont keep good pose AT ALL! too much money anyways!
this is VERY helpfull!!!! i just got a white dd (only because the normal skin was sold out.......) WAIT HOLY CRAP YOU WORK AT THE VOLKS STORE!!!???? OMFG WHERE IS IT!?
hahah I work at Kerbey Lane Doll Shoppe in Austin, Texas. We are one of two US Volks distributors so, in a way I do work for Volks. :] And I love every minute of it! And I'm so glad you found this helpful!
You should definitely come! And yes we do! I can't ever say for sure what we're going to have, because the customers come in waves and clean us out. haha. You can always email me before you come and I can try and let you know if we've got anything good.
Correct:Yuki-no. Not Yu-ki-no... if that makes sense to you XD This was a really sweet video. Oh, look forward to a shout out video from me and my girl soon! :3
haha you know that's a tough question, I'd say a couple pounds maybe four. I'll weigh Elysian and let you know! hahah I have small scale at work he can stand on!
You should definitely get one when you have the money! :D And come by the shop and introduce yourself please!<3 You can come see the DD in person! We're about order a couple for the shop, so you never know you may leave with one!
can u make ur own clothes for the DD or SD?

From what I'm seeing the DDs are a lot more expensive and I don't know why seeing resin is more expensive and harder to work with.

I don't mean to come off as rude, but it seems you're kind of "eh" about the SDs with that 30 second introduction.

I personally like DDs better (because realistic dolls creep me out sometimes), but SD13s Mimi and Show are so cute!!! XD

The SD is sexier.

Is volks resin and Dollfie dream vinyl the same color?
ninaneon1 1 year ago
@ninaneon1 it varies a bit but they use a similar scale to tell the difference in color if that makes sense.

could you tape the eyes in instead of using hot-glue?i'm afraid of using hot-glue on vinyl when my girl gets here!

@rozendollmaker hot gluing won't hurt her at all I promise! And no, tape probably won't hold. Also some tape has acid in it.
