I think you should just trust what you believe is right. You many never know, but it was probably your grandfather. If it was him, I'm sure he didn't mean to scare you :D
You crazy kid! I'm glad you shared your experience, though, sometimes people are shaken by strange events. I've never had such, and I guess that's my double-edged sword that can prick the ghost/poltergeist argument and it can also poke my argument, because most people who believe speak from experience. Overall, I can't tell you if you're right or wrong, just stick with your intuition.
