Mr Williams backed Justice Terence Arnold’s Court of Appeal decision identifying government deregulation of the building industry in the 1990s as the root cause of the leaky-homes disaster.
Yes, a National government stuffed up totally in the 1990s, creating the leaky homes crisis, and 20 years later another National government stands to profit $2bn from the mess. No doubt proof of their “excellent” management of the economy...LOL
This man should run for Prime Minister - He speaks rationally, with a reasonable tone and in a manner that the average New Zealander can relate to. Who is this guy?
If you don't like what you're getting paid, get a better job. It's hard to get a better job? No shit, because everyone wants one - if you're a better worker and more valuable, you'll get it and be able to negotiate a better agreement than the others
@sekamenacerecords1 doesn't matter, new entrants wage is 10.50, and after a new entrant has worked 200 hours their minimum wage is the same as adult minimum wage.
@TheDarkFalcon 200 hours at 40 hours per week is 5 weeks - John Key's current policy suggests that youth work at this rate for 6 months, not 200 hours. There are a large number of reasons as to why I am not a National supporter, this is one, The continuous lies, backtracking on promises and attacking of those that are most vulnerable and unable to defend themselves are among other reasons.
Kick John Key out next election, he's broken multiple election promises and now he wants to privatize prisons and privatize even more state owned assets. This guy is a douche.
I think $9 an hour is pretty fair for an uqualified 17 year old.
All that raising the minimum wage will do is shut down small business and raise prices.
I think John Keys agrees that the minimum wage is low, but realizes the consequences on raising them, which is why he said "how do we get the wages higher".
@teavaroa well for starters she should be getting overtime at that time of the day like everyone used to up until the 90's. Now they sign em up on permanent part time contracts. I had a little sister that worked 90 hours one week in school holidays. And received normal time for the lot.
@duude345 Its not just school children that get that treatment, I did several 70-80 hour weeks in the university break over summer, no overtime pay as I am employed as a casual.
@TheDarkFalcon Are you saying that you worked 16 hour days 5 days per week? Or 12 hour days 7 days a week? All throughout the entire university break? Are you referring to the mid term break, or the end of year break? There's a difference between working at such an insane rate over a period of two - three weeks or over a period of 4 - 6 months.
johnny sounds like he dont give a farts ass about what this true blue kiwi blokes on about, maybe we should show him the same respect nex time round a!!
We should make that worker the Prime Minister. No bullshitting or lies just straight to the point. I remember the day when NZers didn't muck around just told the truth. This guy would have my vote.
was talking to a 75yo lady other day. she reckons john key is a weasel. he has no passion or enthusiasm, and he has dead eyes. thr man makes a better muppet than pm

Raising the minimum wage will not solve the problem. It will only increase prices and then this guy will be complaining that bread costs $6 a loaf.

A lot of angles that we are not seeing.
First what Job does his daughter do?
How long has she been working there for?
Is she qualified? obviously not if shes 17.
Is she part time?
I think $9 an hour is pretty fair for an uqualified 17 year old.
All that raising the minimum wage will do is shut down small business and raise prices.

This 'worker' doesn't understand the concept of productivity. Just legislating for a higher minimum wage does not make someone more productive

@Dipshitbarnaby And the politician doesn't understand the meaning of "work".

$9 bucks an hour? Poor bastard.
No wonder Kiwis flock to Oz.
You can just see Key having no idea what this fella is going through.

This is one of the best impromptu interviews I have ever seen, better yet the "worker" knew some facts that Mr Key did not expect! 5 stars.
