i am afraid you are wrong to some degree, the marine corps and navy are a kinship. they are seperate but closer than any other branch. the navy is the navy with its chief of naval operations and the marines are seperate with its Commandent, but they both report directly to the Seceratary of the navy who heds the Department of the navy.

Yes the Marine Corps is a part of the Department of the Navy, AND the Depeartment of the Military as a stand alone branch. The commandant still reports to the Secretary of the Navy, but it is a seperate branch. They are considered Naval Infantry, but I was 100% correct as I said they are a branch of their own.. because they are. They're not a part of the Navy branch... So the corrections are unneccesary.
