I think it's slightly later than 1950s, probably 1963, recorded during his Palladium season.

Shell "adverts", where celebrities like Bing Crosby and Sammy Davis Jr. sang the praises of their "petrol", for European distribution only...

@fromthesidelines Like the Bing Crosby spot, this commercial wasn't (to my knowledge) ever used in the U.S., although Davis, like Crosby, was one of the top entertainers of the time.
