  • @Badger071 Too right, the bassline is too similar to be unrelated, nothing wrong with it but credit due to Bernard. What's more towards the end of Another One, there is a very Chic esque bit of rythm guitar riff very much in the style of Nile. Makes for a great tune when u are influenced by those genuis'

  • Now look at the state of Black Music today. No Bands, or Groups, and the quality and content SUCKS!

  • @85WARPATH THERE'S NO COMPARISON....BUT SADLY MY FRIEND, WE'LL NEVER HEAR THIS TYPE OF REAL TALENT, BANDS, INSTRUMENTALS, OR MUSIC EVER AGAIN. DISCO WAS SO UNIVERSAL AND DIVERSE, SOMETHING EVERY CULTURE IN THE WORLD WAS FAMILIAR WITH AND DANCED TO. AND IT WAS ALLOWED TO DIMINISH WITH OUR GOOD CHILDHOOD MEMORIES NOW, FOR THOSE OF US THAT WERE LUCKY TO BE BORN IN THIS ERA!! I THINK DISCO SHOULD HAVE LIVED FOREVER AS WELL...JUST BREAKS YOUR HEART DOESN'T IT??

  • I remember them well, yes they most certainly were.

  • They certainly were good times

  • When I wasn't watching the Incredible Hulk, 3's company, dallas, or dukes of hazzard on television in 1979, I was listening to these great songs.

  • this song a theme song for hersey's candy, came on utube to hear the whole song, good upbeat tune, and the chocolate as well help lift moods.

  • This was the very best of TIMES!!!!! Good music , beautiful women, WOW!!!!

  • I'm an 80's generation guy. There was a time when disco was put down. But disco has proven us all wrong. Disco is timeless...

  • @josez1 I remember when Disco was born...I loved it immediately! It was really popular to dance to until the hard rockers began their crusade against it. They started the "Death to Disco" movement and didn't let up. I never understood why? If you don't like it, don't listen to it! I didn't like Hard Rock back then, but I didn't want to start a movement against it!

  • This is music genius right here. Groove, great timing, and melody. This is why more people should learn how to play instruments.

  • slap the monkey

  • best of times

  • good times!!

  • @harryawentz Well said, my friend. Very well said.

  • The late ever great Bernard Edwards was a lethal threat on bass. Chic never got its due back in the day. What a shame.

  • Chic was one of the classiest R&B groups of all times. It must've been really hard for them to perform that very first time after Bernard Edwards' death in 1996.

God bless the group for continuing on and for still performing together and giving the folks a taste of that great old school gold!

  • This was the NYC National Anthem for many years!

  • top 3 bass line of all time..

  • REAL MUSIC 4SHO!!!!!!!!

  • @ronykpe01 "Eee said Captain, I said WOT ? !!"

  • one of the best lyrics of all time:

clams on the half shelf and rollah skates, rollah skates

  • Track's 32 years old and still kicking some royal booty!! 'Nuff said.

  • @inxtrmis My point exactly when it comes to what we have now!!!!

  • This song reminds me of the good times.

yeah, good times they were, but I`ve got good hopes of experiencing some yet again..

  • I totally agree freedom of speech also in music

  • It IS the best bassline ever - I'm trying to talk my band into playing it.

  • This is the speed I remember back in the day...Why does everyone want to speed shit up?? Lay back,relax...

  • @MrJbird1949 PREACH!!!!!

  • @MrJbird1949 in the pocket laid back

  • @MrJbird1949 True, and also, up in ultra high tempos the bass cant do this kind of funk.

  • buenazzzza

  • 18 yrs old and wild as hell, those were really Good Tiimes in 79'...

  • yes!

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this in 1979.

  • @itsthedog6 I was 10 in 1979 and I might have Prog Rock in my name here, but before I discovered that I was all about this cool shit on my old AM (and then FM) radio back in grade school.

How many people out there love disco, new wave, metal and prog all at the same time? Only things I won't listen to are gangsta crap and country.

  • @progrocker69

I'm not that much in metal, but I think I fit in your description, Brother

  • i love the song and bassline its awesome

  • Roger Deacon is a cinematographer... I think you mean JOHN Deacon of Queen (Another One Bites the Dust) :-)

  • The very F@#$in' BEST.... International Anthem for Summer Happiness and timeless... Good Times baby... :D))))

  • one of the best 199 songs ever written....a modern classic!!!

  • This song is a milestone in pop music history - helping RAPPERS DELIGHT to popularise rap and set it on its way to becoming the staple that it is today, influencing ROCK bands like Queen (another one bites the dust) and showing that if you have an incredible bass line like this, you can just continue it and it seems to keep changing. Edwards and Rodgers have been a big musical influence on me.... and just remember guys.... these are guitars! No synths, samples or sequences...Timeless!

  • This is awesome!

    I love your videos! :D

  • This is the only one that play's at the right speed, ALL others are wrong speed just my opinion thnx

  • Great Video with superb full sound.

  • Some of the greatest music to have ever been produced. I remember the Discos and this was and still is one of my favorites.

  • best version on you tube thx

  • anyone knows who sings " good times" the rap version from the mid 80's?

  • @11donkeydick It's called rapper's delight and it's by the sugarhill gang. It's an amazing song that lasts 14 minutes lol

  • I don't get it. I'm a huge rock fan but i also love disco. It seems that when disco was huge when i was a kid everybody was having a GREAT time. I mean EVERYBODY. Steve Dahl was a fat pig who had the disco demolition in Chicago '79. He was pissed because his fat ass couldn't dance and he wasn't getting laid.

  • Boy Bernie could really jam a great bass line....RIP

  • Drivng to the office on mmornings in 1979 and setting in the parking lot to hear this song again!!!! IT's a time machine!

  • HEY YA'ALL... WANNA HEAR SOME GOOD OL' ASS KICKIN' BASE?

    Greetings from Italy.

  • CLAMS ON THE HALF-SHELL AND ROLLER SKATES....R O L L E R S K A T E S!!!

    Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo <3<3<3<3

  • Happy memories of clubbing in Torquay in the late 1970's, magic time.

  • YESSS !

  • It doesn't get any better.

  • Remember Alan Dahl and "Disco Demolition Night" in Chicago, 1979?

  • @luvupokes Yeah, those Nazi rockers should hang their heads in shame... which of their creaking heavy rock cronies could play a bass like Bern-ARD?!

And they lost the baseball match as well didn't they, ha ha ha.

  • @SeventiesMania What do you mean by Nazi rockers? I love rock music and soul and funk. I might be misunderstanding what you're saying.

  • @miggs80 Rock fans who wanted to eliminate another type of music. Idiots, but it also creeps into sinister territory, hence the Nazi jibe. Mindless 'Naziism', but sinister all the same. All music is there for everybody to enjoy - or not. No type of music must be necessarily done down to support another... if people don't like one style, just ignore it, and follow your own, not persecute the other guy's!

  • @SeventiesMania Ahh, Ok gotcha. I was misunderstanding. I remember when they were rioting over disco too big time. You're right.

  • @SeventiesMania IT WAS THE RACIST WHITE HEAVY METAL PUNKS AND DJ'S THAT HELPED END DISCO. WHY THE FUCK COULDN'T THEY HAVE LISTENED TO THEIR OWN PUNK AND METAL SHIT AND LEFT US ALONE? WAS IT BECAUSE DISCO SOLD BETTER? COULD THAT HAVE BEEN WHY THEY ATTEMPTED TO SILENCE US? FACT IS, WE'RE STILL STRONG AND KICKIN' HEAVY TODAY!

    "THAT'S RIGHT!"

  • @SeventiesMania Chic had/has an incredible influence on...almost averything. From Rap/HipHop, via Duran Duran to Gang of Four.

  • @kermankalle Chic was the most sampled artist by hip hop until they got on James Brown......

  • @qmcsing James Brown is the most mixed artist in Hip-Hop, at least most old school rappers have a good taste of music!

  • @SeventiesMania This is a referal to the so called Anti Disco music demos? In which case I know what you mean. As a life long Punk fan I have always had time for other types of music. I so dig this track as a fucking great song. Joe Strummer of The Clash might well have dug this track too...well i like to think so

  • @SeventiesMania Back in the day, the popular saying was "Disco sucks." One day in Milwaukee I saw some goateed clown with a t shirt that read, "Black disco sucks." So yeah, there was plenty of racism involved in the whole anti-disco frenzy.

  • @JimboUSofA Disco came out of the Black, Latin and gay clubs of the '70's, where they couldn't afford to hire bands, so DJ's became the stars, spinning non-stop dance hits, till they almost sounded like whole other songs. The White rock establishment didn't like the dominance that dance music had garnered on the charts, and started the backlash. But, as long as people want to dance, we will have disco...PEACE.

  • @SeventiesMania I'm sorry; polka music MUST be abolished! PEACE.

  • Hey Flor & Chano luv You Guys and Da Familia Heyyy MINA (~_*) put this on for Da Parents !!! Luvvvvvvvv Youuuuuuuuuu Muchoooooooooo ! (~_*)

  • Esta canción es la mas representativa de este estupendo grupo musical el cual deja en claro que la música que se tocaba en esa época era y será de los buenos tiempos. saludos

  • This one of the greatest long running songs of all time.
