Man airport is embarrassing. I frequently travel on business to numerous European, American and Asian destinations and I find Manchester down there with the worst airports. Dirty toilets, dirty lifts, areas in disrepair and queues at immigration are the problems and have been for a long time. If you work there, you should be ashamed. I guess you dont travel out the country much.
I do work a the Airport but not in the terminals, i work Airside and deal with incoming and departing aircraft. You guessed wrong as I do travel out of the country often and i use Manchester airport often. such a shame you dont like Manchester, i to have been to many european and American airports myself and have found them a poor standard also. maybe next time use Birmingham international instead of MAN i,m sure the standards there are much better. I have recently been to Manchester airport departing to Dublin. I went in January 2008 and the terminal (T1) was OK. I then went in January 2009 and there was a huge change to the terminal (T1) as shown in the video. I think the change is great in some ways but in other ways I don't really think the change was a good idea, as you can't just go out for a day trip anymore where you grab a coffee and sit by the glass to watch planes unless you are traveling. However, the terminal has AMAZING design
