I never watched idol until I happened upon this young lady singing this song. I have been listening to recordings of Janis since the 60's and this girl does the best Janis covers I have ever heard. She doesn't mimic Janis voice but her interpretations of the songs are dead on. Listen to Piece of My Heart recorded at the Village Idiot or when she opened for the Doobies earlier this month.

As for Lee DeWyze his "debut" cd (he already has two failed ones pre Idol) has bombed in the same way he did on finale night! Crystal deserved the title by a trillion miles. She was so gracious when he "won" while he never even complimented her specifically; just pranced on shows AS IF!  She'll be laughing all the way to the bank!!!!!

I have not eagerly awaited another performance since i was a kid watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I saw janis Joplin perform live twice. I watched Michael Jackson perform the first moonwalk. Crystal Bowersox is the best singer on American Idol---ever. I have not heard a voice like that or seen a performance like that since I saw Janis Joplin perform. Crystal is going to be a megastar. She is the only American Idol contestant ever whose album I would buy or whose concert I would attend. She is in a class by herself. Wow, wow, wow!!!

But here is what's going to happen - Sioban is going to win and Crystal will be robbed, just as what happened with Adam and Kris last year. As of late, rare is it that the most talented actually wins, with the exception of Kelly, Carrie, and David.

I have said it since the beginning of this competition & I will say it again......this girl is AMAZING!!! She will go further in her career than any other AI competitor. Just Watch. This is raw, NATURAL talent. It seems effortless (which many see as cocky/ conceited). She is genuine & brilliant. No special effects, voice alt, etc. Just her a mic & her guitar LIVE.

Bowersox will become a household name very soon & will continue to be for many years to come.

I'll go as far to say that it was "much" better than Janice Joplin's version. I looked up a couple versions of Janice singing it on you tube just to recollect myself with it, and to me, I am 100% confident it is a better version. It's better than Pink's too. I don't feel she's a better performer than Pink (at least at this time) but with this song, I would put Crystal at the front of the pack.

Thats because they dont sing the complete song due to time constraints. The contestants choose parts of the song that highlight their vocal range. If they sang all the lyrics and the complete song, the show would take hours!
