Thank you (thank god!) for posting this! The B.B. King line about having to "pay the cost to be the boss" seems perfectly expressed here by Mr. Richards' talking about America's one true giant among writers of drama. Not until August Wilson does anyone come within a thousand leagues of O'Neill's combination of gift and craft and the sacrifices he made in realizing them for the stage are amply and touchingly elucidated here.
