Well, I think you should be careful saying that US forces raped the German forces... MG42 was so feared that they often had to use mortars and air support to take them. And the MP40 was superior to the Thompson in almost every aspect, as well as the MG42 to the Browning .30 cal. The only US weapons worth mentioning might be the Garand, the US Carbine and the Browning .50 cal.

But then the germans had STG44... AND! It was the Russians and Brits that did the hard work. America did the "restkill".

The MG 42 was, and still is an excellent general purpose machine gun. It was highly demoralizing to allied soldiers having to face it. It's barrel changing mechanism was excellent. All machine guns should have the barrel swapping facility. The British Bren gun was also very good in that regard. Just couldn't lay down as much lead.

Yes, I belive the PPSH-41 shoots just over 900 rpm. And the MG42 shoots 1000-1200 rpm. But the MG42 takes about a minute to reload!

yes, the Browning had a pretty low rate of fire (for modern standards) and this has a REALLY high rate of fire (for modern standards). im not sure about the round the 42 shot, but im pretty sure regardless it'd be more lethal, due to the fact you cant hear the individual round shoot, just a wuuuuuuurt.
