@gaemp He takes exactly the same number of breaths as does Mario Del Monaco in the 1959 video posted by bposton242.

@hermanzoon He also takes the same number of breaths as Corelli. The only difference is he phrases sooner before the flip onto the high B than does Corelli or Del Monaco.

@hermanzoon first of all it's not true ("dopo l'armi - breath - lo vinse - ). He sings everything too fastly...... anyway, it's not only a matter of breaths.

@gaemp That's what I said below, except I said he takes the breath before, not after, the words "lo vinse," though I did not use the actual words. I said, "He phrases sooner." Since I do not have the score in front of me, I don't know if the phrasing is correct or not. No matter. You said he takes more breaths. He doesn't. He takes the same number of breaths as the sampling of great singers I counted. As for the tempo, maybe you need to fault the conductor.
