can i use this on the top of my big yellow school bus? i would have it tinted/colored a light color, like sand, or off-white to reflect heat. if i prep the surface properly, will it adhere? please let me know.
Can you apply this to the indoor of an enclosed trailer? Would leaving it open a few days allow for enough time for the evaporation process to take place?
How well does it hand things such as oil stains etc.?
apurvanow: Restore™ is an exterior only product. The process our product undergoes to harden is through evaporation and sunlight. In an interior setting the moisture in our product has no where to evaporate to nor is the allotted cure time accurate, which outdoors our cure time is 28 days. Also, depending on where in the home this product is applied, there could be moisture in the air that can hinder our dry time for our product.
Would this product work on making my in-side stairs non-slip? I have already taken off the carpet, but there is a lot of primer and paint (water based latex) that has been left on the wood surface from the builder's original spills and drips. In some cases the sairts are completely covered in a coat or two of paint or primer. Would this be a problem? Do I need to remove all the paint and primer before applying this product to the inside stairs?
@apurvanow: Restore™ is an exterior only product. The reson being is that these products have a final cure time of 28 days and the way that the product hardens is through evaporation. With the product being indoors, the moisture has no where to go and depending on where the stairs are located in the home, like a basement, is already moist, so our product would be encased in moisture allowing it to not harden. We are sorry for any inconvience that this may cause.

Hi, I have a question that the nice people at homedepot were not able to confidentaly answer. I have a deck that was painted with an oil based paint (not stain). Most of it has already flaked off. I can pressure wash most of the paint off but there is paint still on it- here and there an in the cracks.
Will this work over the painted areas or will I have to get every bit off? I appreciate your help! Thanks
@meldnmila: What we would recommend doing is taking a wire brush to the remaining oil paint, roughing it up enough to break down the oil to allow our product to absorb into the pores of the wood. With oil based paints, the oil does not allow for a water based product to adhere to the wood underneath, and the Restore would just be sitting on top of the oil paint and will come off with that paint instead of lasting the projected 8-10 years.
Xdayonx: Our product is not meant for anywhere that a vehicle will be on it due to the fact that it cannot withstand the weight of the vehicle or the heat of the tires. We would not recommend applying our product to any surface with vehicular traffic.
Elbertshc93: You will either need 8 kits to cove the 12x30 area with two coats or 4 of our 5 gallon buckets filled to a 4 gallon capacity for two coats.
Maddeijake: We do apologize for the inconvience that you have had using our product. A suggestion that we would recommend is that if you are applying this product and you are rolling it in one motion, one line, one time, not making mulitple passes, then you can dilute the paint up to a cup of water to a gallon of paint to allow the product to be more pliable. Our product also has a limitied liftetime expectancy of 8-10 years so you should not have to worry about the deck until that time.
I live in San Francisco and ight now the weather is starting to get down in the 40's at night. The morning dew leaves the deck wet in the morning. Im worred the deck restore willnot turn out very good if I apply it now. Should I wait or will it be okay if I apply during the day and there is damp dew over night (not rain). Thanks! I just bought the product but am second guessing on when to apply it.
We would suggest waiting until the Spring to put the product down on the deck. Once temperatures start dropping below 50 degrees the longer our product will take to fully cure. Our product hardens through evaporation and as temperatures drop the least amount of moisture will be pulled out of our product and extend the drying time past the 28 day full cure. Since you have already purchased the product, put it up for the winter so as to not let it freeze. Reshake and apply in the Spring.
This stuff does not go far! Our deck is only a 10x10 deck (100SF) and it took 8 cans of this stuff! I should have just purchased new deck boards and stain.
@patpassey Please feel free to call our customer service department for help 1-800-373-6333 (M-F 8:00 - 5:00 EST). I'm sure we can help you with your application issues.
The finishing results were awesome. We have received alot of compliments on this deck and we recommend everyone use it. We did the concrete restore also on a 20 x 6 porch. It took 10 gal. to complete 2nd coating, but it also turned out beautiful.... The only thing that is not informational about this product is how to clean it if you see mold from trees or maybe if the dog has a accident. Can it be pressured washed, mild soap and water? I can post pictures of our deck if anyone wants to see it
Ok we did roughly a 600 sq. ft 20 yr. old deck with splinters and large cracks. We used 5 kits (10 gallons) on the first coat. The reason we did this is because when you empty the gallon container into a 5 gal. bucket, the product left over in the 1 gal. container was so thick (after stiring) that we added about 1/2 c. water and remixed in 5gal. bucket. This worked out great for us. We still had a thick product and a consistancy we could work with. We came back next day and did 2nd coating.

When applying with a brush exclusively, is there a particular brush brand/type you recommend? I've put on a base coat, and it looks kind of splotchy. I've got areas with heavy grit, and some without the grit.
Just applied Deck Restore to an old 20 x 25 deck. Used 16 gallons. It was easy to apply, filled in the cracks (as shown in the video) and the deck looks great! Also used the satin for the vertical surfaces and it, too, was easy. Bought the product at Lowe's.
I have used this twice.Once on a wood deck, and once on cement.
Great product, but if you have an old deck or if you put it on too thick, it's going to need more product than stated on the box.The wood deck was done last year, and it looks great. The cement floor was just done,so i am waiting to see how it holds up. I would highly recommend this product. But watch this video first, and be prepared to use more product than stated on the box.
2 gallon kit was just barely (and I mean NONE left over) enough to do my 10 X 10 concrete deck with only 1 coat. Maybe I put it on too thick. If you buy this product, make sure it is shaken at your retailer for 12 minutes. 3/4 of the gallon was easy to work with but bottom 1/4 gallon was WAY to thick and then tough to applyas mine was only shaken for 9 minutes. All in all, it seems like it will be a great surface ans will be tough as nails.
The smallest size we have is 1 gallon. Not all retailers are carrying this size however, some Lowe's stores do have it. If you have trouble finding it, call our Customer Service department at 1-800-373-6333 and they should be able to find the closest retailer.

You should allow at least 3-6 hours between coats. Yes, it does depend on conditions such as temperature and humidity. The Restore Roller delivers a thick coat so the thickness of the application is not an issue. Let us know if you have more questions.
We used this product and so far so good. We purchased the amount recommended and had plenty with some left-over. It did not work good on the spindles but maybe we weren't supposed to use it on them! It is thick but that's the point! The color mix was accurate. Our deck gets FULL SUN almost all day. This product has cooled it down enough to walk on now! It is a rough surface, not enough to hurt your feet. Better to keep you from slipping as you would if you just painted your deck. Will it last?
This product does not cover as much as they say, we bought 6 gallon cans and were only able to do a 10 X 15 foot area at a cost of $120.00 and the warrning about the rain is down at the bottom of the box in very small print, so we didn't seeit and it rained the night we put it on and lost more than half of it, if it weren't for these problems it's probably a pretty good product, BUT YOU ABSOLUTLY CANNOT APPLY IF IT'S GOING TO RAAIN!!
Sorry you had trouble with your application. Please feel free to call our customer service department for help 1-800-373-6333 (M-F 8:00 - 5:30). We're here to help.
Because Deck Restore and Concrete Restore are thick coatings, they take time to fully cure. If there's a chance of a pop up shower, we recommend covering with a tarp once the coating is dry to the touch.
Our coverage guide estimates 100 sf per two gallon kit per coat so a 150 sf deck would require three kits for 2 coats.
Synta "Deck Restore", and Specialty Products' "ArmorPoxy" are a full-hiding acrylic latex paint combined fine sand for filling voids and medium grit masonry sand for non-slip texture.
When applied as specified, most surface details will be obscured. It will soak into the wood and form a layer on top.
Coverage of 100sqft per gallon is a stretch, but can be achieved with practice.
To fill voids without as much texture, a stiff brush works well.

Maybe a pint (or even a quart). I'd like to see it in action before I risk my deck and a few hundred bucks.
