  • Jason Segel could totes play him in a movie!

  • @CAK11891 thats exactly what i was thinking! its not just his looks but his mannerisms as well

  • Cameron Crowe, Black Crows, Kate Hudson in The Raven...?

  • wow, no its not better than the gladiator.

  • @DCProductions77 You can't compare the two, they have no similar qualities. They're both awesome in my opinion.

  • No standing applause?!

  • I could say this movie saved me from killing myself. THAT FUCKING GOOD.

  • THE MOVIE WAS ACTUALLY A LOVE LETTER TO HER NOT HIS FAMILY

  • YOU ALL KNOW HE WAS THINKING OF HER AT THIS GREA TIME IN HIS LIVE SHE MADE IT HAPPEN BUT HE COULNT THANK HER HIS WIFE WOULD KILL HIM

  • it's pretty weird seeing chris robinson at an oscars ceremony

  • He looks like the product of Russell Crowe Fu***ng a Horse

  • @TheConspiracyNinja Bet you do, too.

  • he looks like jason seagel.

  • "The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool."--He doesnt seem so uncool now.

  • Some of the best Zeppelin songs punctuate the story, but Tiny Dancer basically kept me from seeing the film until now, as I hate that song! hahaha

  • The woman that announces his background, sounds like the voice of Diane in Family guy.

  • It would be nice if he made another great film. It's been a while..

  • Because "Chocolat" was backed by the Weinstein brothers...

  • Is he a better writer or directer?

  • The Audrey and Billy he mentions at the end were Billy Wilder and his wife Audrey - not Audrey Hepburn.

  • Yeah I do think it sucks he doesn't thank Patrick Fugit, who plays HIM. But still. Cameron Crowe DEFINITELY deserved this award.

  • @gatorkati I do. I was all like "wtf???"

  • @gatorkati I'm a critic of films about Rock n Roll, there really have only been a few I think don't downplay the importance of music, and I even enjoyed the Sandler comedy AirHeads

  • didnt thank the main character or zooey deschanel, shaaameful ;)

  • No props for Patrick Fugit? He stole the show.

  • What's a bigger thrill? Winning an Oscar or kissing Nancy Wilson? I'll choose Nancy.

  • shoulda played tiny dancer

  • how can this movie win for best original screenplay, have two actors nominated, AND NOT EVEN BE NOMINATED FOR BEST MOVIE?!?! what a travesty! people say the dark knight was the reason why there are now ten nomination slots for best picture, i think it's because of almost famous!

  • This film deserved best picture..hands down!

  • I think it should've been nominated for best picture. There's not a single flaw in that movie!

  • Vanilla Sky should have won the entire suite in the year it should've been nominated

  • @Soliman2014 Vanilla Sky is a remake of a better movie.

  • this win should have received a bigger applause

  • My favorite movie :D will always remind me of adolescence and great music .

  • love how all the actors start to sniff rd the director.."please give me a job"

    their all whores..

  • who's hand does he shake before going on stage?

  • @Ichiro20 That's Russell Crowe who stands up in the front row, I read somewhere he was a huge admirer of Almost Famous...

  • @castaway50 I believe that's Kurt Russell, not Russell Crowe, and he's in the second row at 0:13

  • @mayankeagle Russell Crowe shakes Cameron's hand at 0:22

  • This film should have won Best Picture.

  • Good for him, he gave such the perfect speech too. Not too long, not too short. Nancy looked so proud, and she cried too. That's a good movie...I'm sorry, great movie. :)

  • Very nice. Well said. Nancy even cried a little. Cool. :)

  • wow nancy looks so pretty and proud and if i am not mistaking it looks like she teared uo a little and had to wipe her eyes congrsts cameron

  • I think Almost Famous should have been nominated for Best Picture as well i mean if Jerry Maguire was nominated why not this movie

  • I think Almost Famous should have been nominated for Best Picture as well i mean if Jerry Maguire was nominated why not this movie

  • a lot of Zeppelin in that Oscar, Love and Music.....w 70's!!

  • That's Russell Crowe that gets up to shake his hand right before he gets on the stage. Very sweet! <3

  • @mothersfreakout Aren't they related in some way? I heard they were second cousins or somehting but Wiki answers claims they are not related. Does anyone know?

  • Do you see that guy in the 15th row behind where he is sitting. In the tux there, he turns his head to the right suddenly. That's not me. Just living out my hopes and dreams. Thank you all, so much. I couldn't have done it without you.

  • Classy. Classy.

  • Almost Famous is too much better than Gladiator, Traffic, Crouching Tiger and the rest of the nominees

Is the best movie of 2000!!!

Cameron Crowe should´ve won Best Picture and Kate Hudson Best Supporting Actress

  • @Grogxong No, Traffic was definitely a superior movie.

  • Such a cool guy. I worked with him on Almost Famous, and you wouldn't believe what a nice guy he is.

  • you did? what do you do in the film?

  • Must have been a great experience, one of my absolute favorite movies this. Good on ya:)

  • i worked with your mom last night and you wouldnt believe how nice she was

  • I'm bummed they don't show the reading of the other nominees.

But I did enjoy seeing his wife's lovely breasts.

  • Yeah, Nancy Wilson is hot!

  • @TomFromJersey His wife is Nancy Wilson from Heart.

  • aww hes so modest and classy . congrats on ur oscar Cameron!

  • how was this film not nominated for Best Picture?

  • @jandy16 Because the guys behind "Chocolat" did a much better campaign...

  • @jandy16 because it sucked

  • @cooliovasquez why didn't you like it?

  • @lemmonorange68 that movie was awesome. u obviously dont know wat you are talking about

  • @jandy16

the weinsteins probably bought a stupid nomination for their film Chocolat, just like they did for Shakespeare in love. that must've kicked almost famous out of the running

  • Cameron also wrote the book "Fast Times At Ridgemont High."

  • Fun Fact: At this time Kate Hudson was married to Chris Robinson, Cameron Crowe to Nancy Wilson. In 1990, Chris's band (the Black Crowes) opened for Nancy's band (Heart) on their Brigade tour.

  • He thanked Kate Hudson and Frances McDormand but not Patrick Fugit? Ouch.

  • I think maybe he wasn't there, and i'm sure he was nervous.

  • i LOVED both almost famous AND memento, but memento was nominated in 2001 at the 74th annual oscars so you'd probably have to take that up with whoever won in 2001-i have no idea who did, lol

  • Of course it should. The world is crying out for movies about geordie ballerinas. How stupid of me to enjoy a film about rock music.

  • You know, its funny you say that. I got both movies on the same day, and watched them on the same day. Memento was brilliant, in fact, its one of the best movies I have seen so far. Great acting, great screenplay. But to be honest with you, Almost Famous is way better.

  • wow, he got to kiss alot of hot women on his way to the stage. nancy has a great rack

  • I can comfortably thumb you down. Would you like to know why?

Because they weren't nominated in the same year. Almost Famous was 2000, Memento 2001. Go flame the Gosford Park screenwriter if you like...

By the way, Memento was robbed in 2001...

  • of course it didn't go to Memento. Have even seen "Almost Famous"?? Much better movie than Memento.

  • Hehe. He got his very own Golden God.

  • the best picture of 2000 hands down, cant believe it didnt win all the major awards at the oscars.

  • "Almost Famous" has gotten better with age, even though it's not that old. It's a great valentine to Billy Wilder's "The Apartment" screenplay and Crowe really deserved that Oscar®.

  • when was this?????????

  • where can i get the song played as he goes up?

  • Almost Famous should have been nominated for Best Picture and then win as well.

  • @grievous1 Maybe nominated, but come on win AF is a great movie but Gladiator was a better movie. the academy is now including 10 nominee's instead of the 5 when AF came out. AF would of been nominated if it were top 10 nominee's back in 2000. Opinions are so diverse, i guess thats why they added another 5 to make more people happy and of course so the rich get richer.

  • Outstanding movie, and soundtrack. Being a teenager at the time the movie took place (1973), he got it just right.

  • About time Cameron won an Oscar-Way to go! Nancy-you look Marvelous, dahling. I am 7 years younger almost to the day and I hope i look half as good as the Goddess herself when I am her age.Love ya Nancy!

  • Nothing happened to her. She's gettingolder, just like we all do if we're lucky.

  • what you must be blind!

  • Bro, It is called getting older. She is still hot!!!..Go Nancy...

  • Ouch, my ass!! You dip shit! I can't wait til you hit your mid 40's--I'd be curious to see how you and your wife age...She looks spectacular!

  • Almost Famous is a truly great movie. He deserved it

But what's the point of this dramatic music? they should have put led zeppelin or something!

  • Actually the piece they are playing in the beginning is from the Almost Famous score...

  • i'd like to think Philip Seymour hoffmen, Jason Lee and of course the star of the movie Patrick Fugit

  • He so deserved this award, he poored his life's blood into that screenplay.

  • How could he not thank Patrick Fugit? He was the star of the movie?

  • Does anybody know the song they play when his name is announced?

  • its called cabin in the sky. its also the song that plays a few times throughout almost famous. its by nancy wilson. but they never released it, so you won't find it if you look for it. =( its an amazing song though! =)))

  • This was the real Best Picture of 2000.

  • I think that's his mom at the back clapping. Hahaha. She does seem a lot like Frances McDormand's character! Amusing!

  • I think the woman behind them (the brunette one who's excited/clapping) is Cameron Crowe's mom. She looks/seems a lot like Frances McDormand's character in Almost Famous. Which is autobiographical, right? Hahaha. She looks like an interesting person.

Cameron Crowe is so cool. :)

  • 0:53 - the one with the visible bust-line who's clapping is his wife Nancy Wilson if that's what you're thinking. Perhaps his mother is the one behind her.

  • great movie, i watched it several times... and look, Chris Robinson is there! Cool

  • UMM Wheres the thanks Mr. Crudup he made that film!

  • Aw, Nancy looks so pretty and proud here. What an amazing moment for them, I can't imagine how that must feel.

  • "A love letter to music"

    Nice touch

  • Almost Famous is one of my favorite movies, it taught me to listen to Led Zeppelin, thanks Cameron!

  • what is the song that is playing in the background as he walks up to accept the award ?

  • "Cabin in the sky" by Nancy Wilson, from what I know - unreleased, but if somehow somebody does have the song please let me know :)

  • awesome movie. the doors, almost famous, i love this kind of movies couse its about rock and this two are just awesome. Congrats Cameron!

  • Cameron Crowe wins an Oscar for "Almost Famous" -- That's doesn't feel quite as good as saying...Julia Roberts almost wins an Oscar for being famous (oh wait, she did).

  • Well played, sir.

  • Hahaha--love your comment, preacher.

  • I love how he thank Billy. Gotta love Billy, man.

  • lol he was the star of the movie which so many people liked, when i think of almost famous i immedietley think " what a great movie" i dont think " would have been alot better if someone besides patrick had the maid roll"

  • Very cool.

  • was that Debbie allen sitting next to cameron's wife?

  • "A love letter to music."

    Love that

  • Agreed, JakeIsFine379.

So well deserved (the award). This really is an amazing film. Makes me glad I was William Miller's age in the era of this movie. I think I'll go watch it now ... AGAIN.

  • Funny that "William Miller" was based on Cameron Crowe's real life experiences as a teen working for Rolling Stone. The things you learn about people. What a way to grow up!

  • AND JUST WHERE IN THE HELL WAS THE 'THANKYOU' FOR PATRICK

    :p

  • love you Cameron Crowe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Muy buena pelicula, suena mucho Zeppelin est abuena de verdad!!!

  • Correct. Amazing. I adore Nancy. :)

  • Yep, that's the same Nancy Wilson! She is just awesome!!

  • I never knew Cameron Crowe married Nancy Wilson, this is the Nancy Wilson of Heart I presume?

  • Nolan should have won for "Memento". One of the best original screenplays ever!

  • I love when Nancy points out his mother and sister behind her..."Almost Famous" gets better with every viewing.

  • i remember seeing the credits of the movie for the firts time, and you know they are written with a pencil by "william miller" on a note, and i taught he was writting "patrick FUQIT" I was like??what the hell???does it really exst a man with this name????

  • Kate Hudson should have won! She was so great in that movie, and she was the clear front runner! That was until Marcia Gay Harden snuck up and won. How could people check her box, and not Kate's?!

  • uhhh Harden was better...much better.

  • best movie ever

  • I agree with you.

Please explain "Gladiator" over "Almost Famous" and or "Erin Brockovich".

  • I love this movie, its my all time favorite.

  • Patrick Fugit was really good in that role, great movie!

  • Fugit was great

  • yeah i thought he was pretty perfect for it.

    "i am the enemy!"

  • thats insane. patrick spoke more and had greater emotion in his expressions than most movies could dream of.

  • He is so awesome. Cameron's perspective on music and life is just so refreshing and it shows in his movies... God, every dramatic point in his movies are complimented by the very best rock and roll has to offer.
