Aw... this breaks my heart, this disturbed repetitive behavior. There's a great bit 'o good news though! Boo is arriving! Let's hope Lucky adjusts well to her new "pen pal" because elephants need to choose their own friends just like us. I can't imagine what terrifying nightmares this poor ellie has had in her sweet life, without her mom and family since age 2. Breaks my heart into millions of pieces. Good luck to them all!
Lucky is such a beautiful girl. She really shouldn't be in that dump. Hopefully, due to growing public pressure and letters, the San Antonio Zoo will be willing to surrender her to the Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary, where she can live in peace, without chains. Lucky deserves so much better. Elephants are so intelligent and social... =[
