@gladmama the mother fish will spit the fry out and if they are still eggs she will spit them out also. Catching the fish really stresses them a lot. good tasting ones :)
strip the eggs is great if you want lots of fish, but it is for experienced only with an incubator, I just let the fish do all the work, there is really no credit on my end, the fish know what to do. The parent fish will protect the fry, the larger fish will leave them alone for a little while, but I would separate them after a couple weeks. Give the fry places in the tank to get away from the large fish. Like the wire bar. And smaller pvc pipe.
im breeding tilapia and i have videos on my page regarding tilapia growing, and im having some trouble. do you strip the eggs from the mother and grow them in incubators? or do you let them hatch naturally? how do you keep the other fish from eating the babies if you let them hatch in the tank with the other fish?
Well, what I think is just take the mother fish out just before it releases the frys. What type of tilapia do you have?
