I was there on the 19th of July at Bolshoi's opening performance with Spartacus. Ivan Vasiliev was incredible, absolutely out of this world. If he hadn't been the amazing ballet dancer he is he would have been a magnificent actor. He is so in character, he lives and breathes this Spartacus. Incredible! Thank you for the video, now I can keep watching it and remember this unique performance.
Thank you K. for this gorgeous video. This is such a masterpiece of choreography by the genius mind of Grigorovich. Beautifully danced by Vasiliev. I'm sure that sweet Natalia Bessmertnova must have danced every step with Kaptsova.
Did you see this production in Moscow? And what were your impressions of the Mariinsky's version of this classic?
Sadly, as per usual, it's next to impossible to enjoy this video at 1080P without the constant freeze frames.
@charlesyvesfournier The geniuses at youtube have perfected 1080P. This 11 minute video took me almost one hour to watch from start to finish at 1080P. A lot of pauses. It defeats watching 1080P.
use Mozilla browser, install downloadhelper (free) and save the 1080p movie to your disc to watch later... works very well for me :-)
