i like 66`s better, i ve had over 30 of them for haulage, im a main basher when it comes to locos, but units are better than loco hauled stuff.thats why im always doing units at the weekend, main or what!
I am finding this most interesting. I live in the United States and I am now developing an interest in British railways. This class 37 seem to be quite the brute...perhaps comparable with our own EMD F-series. Are the class 37's still used on mainline service very often~?
@sandman19681012 yes but it is mainly DRS who use them but as you can see there are still other companies who still use them. also the class 37 is a very strong engine used mainly in the 80's and 90's to pull mainly freight trains.
just started trainspotting with a friend - these "growlers" as they are known(according to my friend) really are something else!! there was a railtour passing through plymouth-newton abbot-exeter-tiverton parkway etc. yesterday(6/11/11), there were 2 of these on the front, and a diesel(not sure on class - didn't really look, was too fascinated by the growlers!) and that "growl" from the engine is truly something else!
@gemmal90 Have a look for Napier Deltric, that is the engine in theses which are very interesting, 3 crank shafts and no cylinder heads, this engine is why it makes it unique sound.
Could do with some proper terrain thrash (Scotland), not flatland stuff. And as for the first clip with MQOS, you could of panned the camara round rather than just video the bloody coach's. Verdict= Your a NED!!
Nice compilation, each shot down to the point. Don't know why I'm such a 37 fan, I've never lived in England to experience them in their hayday, think it's just the looks combined with the sound.
wow brings back childhood memories, used to ride the 37s between heckmondwike & healey mills when they pulled the oil tankers for charrington hargeaves, legally & illegally .
Great to see the Class 37's still going, they must be near the end of their lives now. I travelled behind a few of them around most of Scotland in 1987 and I must admit I fell for them in a big way. Love the shots of them coming through at speed especially the one that notches back while still in the distance. Great sounds and as much smoke as a steam loco at times!
My favorite loco the class 37 - brilliant!b :) Nice video - in first clip of the EWS liveried 37 u can see pendolino in action in background! Nice shots! 2:20 Steddie Eddie behind - :D Lol!
Please explain Thrash & Clag....also that train didn't obliterate Wariington just seemed to be a train going through a station..Why the cheers when a train goes past...Is it that exciting ??...
F*****G brilliant vids Mate,i live in Kings Lynn..all we used to get were class 37's,now all we get is class 4something thingy electric unit shit!!! Channel subscibed to......brilliant!!!!
@DiddlyDom I used to live in King's Lynn and used to virtually live down the station 30 years ago. How I remember those days fondly. I'm a driver now and all I get on is 66s and they have no soul at all.
great video besides the piss head screaming at the locos :)

Hmm it wern't bad, good thrash just a shame about the video quality but ah well.
The video name though, "Thash & Clag" in the 2nd and 3rd clips, the 37s were just coasting so wern't much thrash or clag, so should be in this video?
Good try though (Y)
