  • awesome :D

TAKE THAT APPLE! (from the from the apple store :P)

  • Show us how to expand ATV's memory with an external hard drive without voiding the warranty! Video Please!!

  • what type of TV is that

  • read the title!!

  • not the apple tv, what v is the apple tv hooked to

  • this video reminds me of my videos!!1 d

  • GET A STATIV!!!

  • It needs an ATSC tuner though the apple TV's processor is a little to slow for HDTV . The silicondust HDhomerun networked tuner might be able to be made to work with it.

  • im so silly. My bits and pieces were all on photo on a SMALL USB drive that i left in the library. Luckily there was a password, but it was written ON THE SIDE of the usb drive! HA! If you find this thing before any other does then tell me or someone to tell me soonish!

  • What's the point? I'd rather just but a mac.

  • its ok i dont have a closet il b safe

  • can anyone tell me about the screen setup he has in the video?

  • Wow

  • bottstrap, what the hell is this crap

  • Troll much lately?

  • I hate apple

  • why.

  • So what is the benefit of this?

  • Hardware hackers invented PCs and they help to push the evolution of computers along by hacking them. That's a huge benefit of doing this. Also, iTunes and Apple TV may shake up the media industries in ways which few people understand. Remember, half of the critics panned the iPod when it came out. The Apple TV isn't just a TIVO type gadget. There's a lot more going on with it.

  • think so?

  • Get an S-Video cable and a simple 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA cable.. and voila, you have your desktop on your comp. That costs $10.

I believe there are HDMI hookups that work like that as well, so it can work on huge HDTVs as well.

Yet, stupid people will buy this piece of shit because it has an apple logo and they think, "Ooooo, I'm sticking it to the man and I'm cool cuz I buy Apple things"

Go you.. without the iPod, apple would be tanking so hard right now.. and even that sucks

  • I think their designers are some of the best, and they're selling these so fast only because it provides added convenience. Apple's "Media Center" I guess. The prices aren't so good though and I'm not even that bothered that I can't afford one; I like the full OS functionality.

  • Not to mention everything they make is sooo damn pretty :)

  • ummm what

  • cool

  • you did a "DD Dump" ? ..cool

  • apple Tv is great! BUT, it's overpriced. if it was 150 i'd get one!

  • apple tv SUCKS.

  • This is Ozy, the guy in the video. I did use normal composite + stereo cables for component use. Its quick and easy and there is no difference in quality for this demonstration. I usually use the HDMI output on my DLP TV.

  • Test

  • This is Ozy, the guy in the video. The cables you see are normal Composite + LR Stereo, but I am hooking them up to the Component output to my Dell 24". I usually use it via HDMI on my DLP TV, but I had to use those cables to quickly make the video.

  • Your Apple Mail "ding" sound made me check my own mail :P

  • The question i have is # 1 why and # 2 who cares...

  • You have to much time on ur hands...

  • MOST BORING VIDEO EVER!

  • cud just pick up the fucking tv remote instead of wasting ur time with apple. wats the point.

  • i love taking D D Dumps

  • lmao

  • Why not just watch TV on your TV?

  • COMPOSITE, NOT COMPONENT... Idiot...

  • "COMPOSITE, NOT COMPONENT... Idiot..."

    NO, It's COMPONENT.

Composite video uses only one cord. >_>

  • Notice how he has analog audio? 2 of those cables are for audio, 1 is for video.

  • no its not. your thinking of composite, there is no composite on the apple tv, its component. he is just using composite cables instead of component. do some research before making an idiot of yourself.

  • Shut it. Use proper cables.

  • "he is just using composite cables instead of component. do some research before making an idiot of yourself." You need to do your research, dude. THIS is what Apple says: Ports and interfaces HDMI (video and audio) *Component video* Optical audio Analog RCA stereo audio 10/100BASE-T Ethernet USB 2.0 802.11n wireless networking6 Built-in IR receiver (works with included Apple Remote) Look it up for yourself, geez... >_>
  • jealous?

  • you need 3 RCA cables, they can be pink purple and orange, it doesn't matter. it's COMPONENT out

  • composite cables are the same as component. just component uses 5 lines instead of 3.

  • He could done a poor man's component video which is when you plug in composite cables into a component video connection, since it has the same number of connections. It should give you the same quality because there's little to no difference in the cabling (component vs. composite with audio) themselves other than the color of the tips and the price.

I am not familiar with the box he's using, so I do not know what types of connection it has.

  • Mofo -- uh no, that is wrong. Completely wrong. You can't just plug in composite cables into a component video connection.

  • Composite connections and componenet commections use RCA Phono connectors, they are identical, just composite uses 1, and component uses 3 for both RGB and Y'PbPr connection methods. Look up wiki or google it.

  • no exactly hacked but cool, when you do hack maybe personalize the logo's on the menue

  • hahah nice one. the apple tv got hacked so quickly. and btw nice monitor setup lol

  • Being apple, why try and stop it from being hacked? This makes the device much more desirable, and they don't have to do anything. IT probably makes alot more sense to let it be hcked then to eqip it with things people may want from a legal standpoint

  • Great - now I just want to see booting from a USB flash device with a startup script to automatically install codecs and whatevere else is necessary to play EyeTV/DVB-T recordings (MPEG-2 video, MPEG-1 audio) without any transcoding. THEN AppleTV gets interesting and very worthwhile.

  • Your Apple Mail "ding" sound made me check my own mail :P

  • lol me too

  • nicely done.

when and if if it's possible to just run content from an external usb device (and codecs) I may consider getting one!

  • ekylypse, if you are using HDMI, then you do not need to have that yellow plugged in. just use red and white for audio only.

  • Are you serious? He's using those as component video cables. There's not even a composite video (or "yellow" as you call it) jack on the AppleTV.

  • HDMI takes both audio and video, and he doesnt have that even plugged in.

  • Ok, now, can I get an external case with a 750gig drive and boot it? Hmm?

  • Fantastic! Finally A Way To Install SSH Or Crack That VPN Without Opening The Case.

  • Very nice job.

  • Keep up the awesome work! If you guys keep going, I think I might find one of these things on my birthday list soon...

  • so u mean just hold menu and minus?
