El34's or 6550's. Played them both for years. Depends on what you want from your amp. My personal taste is for the EL34, Cream, Crunch and Balls. Pure classic rock tone. Sound the best in pre master volume era amps. 6550's are a bit harder sounding in my opinion and have more headroom, hence one of the reasons they work well in MV amps. I'm surprised to see a set of Groove Tubes in Slash's classic amp. I would think a guy with his size wallet would go for a descent set of NOS.
@ricgresko some might agree; pretty much everyone has one. they're just too predictable. even i own an 800, but i dont use it as much as i do with other amps
a rare sound. lol. these ppl talk as though gnr were only gd coz slash had a magical amp. FUCK OFF!!! gnr were gr8 coz of the riffs solos n rest of band. the amp makes little difference @ the end of the day.
@GazzaTheMuff Actually the sound of the amp was the sound of the entire album. You should about how an amp can change everything before talking smack about it. Learn about tonality, gain, material, and power.
@skinandbones90 In the UK, the standard JCM 800 reissue retails for about 1,000 pounds sterling. So as this is a signature head and with more expensive valves (6550's) I suspect will cost around 1,200 - 1,300 pounds. Which will probably be a new benchmark in terms of pricing anyway.
The original was a JCM 800 modded by Tim Caswell, the number 39 mod, which he will still do for you today. Buy an 800, get Tim to mod it for you and give the guy that deserves the credit some cash.
hey marshall, is this amp gonna be produced to and sold to the public, and if yes, would there be a actuall 100 wat head? or the combo on your website?
afd100 is the name of the new signature amp of slash and this amp going to give the rare sound of the appetite for destruction album (sorry about my english)

@SlashLesPaul321 the combo in the afd100 webside is a combo made for slash only, this amp is not the afd100 amp
